In the pursuit of success, one often encounters hardships, challenges, and moments of self-doubt. Yet, it is the unwavering determination, resilience, and self-belief that can turn the tide and lead to remarkable achievements. The life story of Chris Daymon, a Filipino writer turned Editor-in-Chief, is a testament to the idea that every painful experience can ultimately pave the way for a triumphant ending.
The journey to success is often marked by obstacles and trials. For Chris, it all began in 2015 when they arrived in Dubai and embarked on a career in customer service and sales. Little did they know that a chance encounter with the renowned Filipino designer Michael Cinco would set the course for a life-changing journey. Recognizing Chris’s writing talent, Michael Cinco collaborated with them, and soon their work found its way into prestigious international publications, including Dolce Magazine in Canada, Deamina Magazine in Milan, Italy, and more.
Unwilling to settle for the status quo, Chris expanded their horizons, taking on the role of a fashion and lifestyle writer for newspapers in both Dubai and the Philippines. Their work resonated with readers across the globe, from London to Germany to the USA, establishing them as a respected writer in the fashion industry. The challenges they faced on this new career path were met with a sense of adventure and an unwavering spirit. Today, they hold the esteemed title of resident writer for VICTOR Fashion Magazine and are a contributor to Illustrado Magazine.

However, life has a way of testing one’s mettle. In March 2020, Chris lost their job as a researcher for a semi-government company, plunging them into a period of depression. The uncertainty of unemployment in a foreign country cast a heavy shadow. Yet, it was during these trying times that their journey took a remarkable turn when a friend suggested they apply as a COVID-19 nurse. Not only did they secure the position, but they quickly rose to become the team leader of the Swab Team in Ajman and later the head nurse at an Abu Dhabi quarantine facility. Presently, they serve as a COVID-19 vaccination nurse in Dubai, administering vaccines to CEOs, news anchors, and figures in the media and fashion industry.
Chris’s journey is a testament to unwavering determination and resilience. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, they seized a new opportunity after losing their job in the medical field. Joining a Filipino Dubai-based magazine, Chris made significant strides in boosting its popularity within just six months. However, fate took a cruel turn when they were dismissed in September. The subsequent humiliation on social media, coupled with the circulation of false narratives aimed at discrediting them, cast a shadow over their life once more.
Depression, that formidable adversary, cannot be easily defeated by hope alone. It weighs heavily, seemingly impossible to lift. In these moments, open conversations about depression and emotions become essential. Let us remember that depression is not a sign of weak character; rather, it is a battle that requires understanding, empathy, and education within society.Â
Thankfully, their story takes a positive turn, as they found support and encouragement from those who believe in their potential. Janice Delima Tentler, CEO of Alegre de Pilipinas and Mrs. Great Lakes Earth 2022, and Mrs. Philippines International Universe 2023, who advocates for mental health, recommended them to Katniss Griffiths, the owner of IHollywood Lifestyle and Fashion Magazine. This recommendation marked a pivotal moment in Chris’s career, as they was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief of the US-based magazine, marking a historic milestone for Filipino writers in the Middle East.
This journey, from a swab nurse to the esteemed position of Editor-in-Chief, is a testament to their unyielding spirit and their commitment to personal growth. They continually embrace new challenges, welcome change, and persist in serving humanity with the same passion that Florence Nightingale once embodied. Their determination to help and care for others remains steadfast, even as their career path evolves. Their achievements, including winning Fashion Influencer of the Year for two consecutive years, underscore their relentless pursuit of excellence and personal growth.

As they embark on their journey as Editor-in-Chief, they have discovered another purpose in life: giving back to the community. They have taken up the cause of fighting against HIV/AIDS, viewing it as a lifelong commitment. Their advocacy extends to raising awareness and support for children with HIV/AIDS under Project Red Ribbon’s Duyan.
Chris’s story stands as a testament to the notion that the road to success is anything but easy. It is a path filled with trials, setbacks, and the need to adapt to changing circumstances. In the face of adversity, Chris Daymon, a Filipino writer turned Editor-in-Chief, has displayed unwavering resilience and an unwavering commitment to making a lasting impact on the world stage. Their journey serves as an inspiration, reminding us all that every painful story has the potential for a successful ending.
