Can you share a bit about your self-care journey? This is a snippet that will help us get to know you better.
Shanice: It wasn’t until I got older that I realized the importance of self-care and what that looked like for me. I spent much of my younger days thinking disconnecting from myself for hours at a time every few weeks meant that I was taking care of myself. I’ve now learned that being fully present in my body and circumstances grounds me.
Could you describe one or two non-negotiable wellness rituals in your daily routine?
Shanice: Taking a mindful shower, lighting a candle, playing meditative music or listening to affirmations, lathering up with a fragrant body wash, and allowing myself to be fully present with my body and thoughts. My second non-negotiable is moving my body, whether through activities like walking my dog, lifting weights, or riding a bike.
What has been your most rewarding experience working with Collective Resiliency, and how has it influenced your perspective on wellness?
Shanice: My most rewarding experience working with Collective Resiliency has been witnessing and reading about the transformation in individuals who have reclaimed their sense of well-being. Being part of such a supportive network has influenced my perspective on wellness and serves as a reminder that the journey to wellness is a collective one.
In what ways do you believe our brand’s focus on collective wellness impacts the community of women we serve?
Shanice: Collective Resiliency offers a safe space for women from all walks of life to share experiences, resources, and encouragement. This community allows women to thrive, grow, and empower each other by celebrating our differences and holding hands as we move forward through life.
What advice would you give to someone struggling to make self-care a priority in their life?
Shanice: Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming. There are so many small ways to care for yourself throughout the day that we might not always realize. Activities like reading a few pages of your favorite book in a quiet space, enjoying a cup of coffee while you listen to your favorite podcast, or going to bed a few minutes earlier for extra sleep are all great ways to start.
Who in your life inspires your wellness practices, and how do they motivate you to maintain a healthy lifestyle?
Shanice: There are too many people in my life to name, so I’ll say all the women in my life! I have such a beautiful network of women who are hardworking mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, and friends who always take a moment out of their busy days to do something that brings them joy. Whenever I speak to them or see social media posts of them doing a spa day, taking a long walk, or binging their favorite shows, it serves as a reminder for me to take time to do the same.
Impact on Others: How do you hope to inspire or impact others through your work and personal wellness practices?
Shanice: I hope to inspire others by demonstrating that prioritizing well-being is achievable and necessary. I aim to show that small, consistent efforts can lead to significant improvements in overall health and happiness.
Passions Beyond Wellness: What are your passions or interests besides your wellness activities, and how do they contribute to your overall well-being?
Shanice: I love exploring different forms of creative expression, whether that be through watching films, reading, studying scripts, acting, or writing. I love that these art forms are not just for entertainment but to connect with others. These interests help keep me mentally stimulated and emotionally balanced.
