Moving to the United States is a risk that hundreds of thousands of people take every year, but it’s something that takes a lot of courage and hard work. Consequently, many people have failed or even refused to try out of fear of rejection and failure. Cobby Awadzie looks to be a beacon of hope for the many who aspire to pursue the American Dream but are too afraid to try.
Originally from Tema, Ghana, Cobby moved to the United States. From his humble beginnings, the model and influencer always had the ambition to move to the west and create a life of influence and affluence for himself and his family. He moved to the States when he was a teenager. An avid lover of music and football, he would pursue his passions early on. Ultimately, that path would bring him to entrepreneurship and fashion.
Currently, Cobby Awadzie is a fashion model who works with some of the biggest brands in the country and the world. He’s represented luxury brands like Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, Dior, and many others. But more than creating something that will bring personal enrichment, Awadzie has a more altruistic calling: to be an inspiration to the youth, especially from developing countries and his hometown of Ghana, who want to step out of their comfort zones and pursue careers in larger nations.
On top of his fashion career, Cobby is also pursuing studies as an engineer and hopes to find some level of success in that area. He aspires to one day become financially successful so he can start supporting causes and even start some of his own initiatives for the less fortunate in Ghana.
So much of the model’s inspiration and motivation comes from witnessing his family’s struggle. Growing up, his parents faced many obstacles as they worked hard to provide for their needs. “Seeing that in my parents motivated me to work as hard as possible to achieve my dreams and make their lives much easier,” shares Cobby Awadzie. “The hardships they had to face by taking care of myself and my siblings, providing us with an education, and working tirelessly to tend to our needs are the actions that I am truly appreciative for.”
Today, Cobby continues to grow his influence in fashion and beyond. He has also experienced a significant uptick on his social media channels as more people from similar backgrounds turn to Awadzie for inspiration. “I intend for my audience to be those who come from less affluent countries and have big aspirations such as coming to the United States or having a job in the US that would make them financially stable,” adds Cobby.
Cobby continues to urge his audience to dream big and aim for the stars, even if it means landing on the moon. He hopes that his story of perseverance amid social, financial, racial, and academic challenges would show people that anything is possible if one is willing to put in the work to make those dreams a reality.
