Being a Crew Chief with almost eight years of extensive experience in the U.S. Air Force and investing might not seem like the easiest feats to complete. But it’s something that Mike Jackson does with excellence. He has a well-documented career and is still passionate about serving his country while defending the rights and freedoms people benefit from daily.
For Mike Jackson, a stint in the Air Force is a calling to serve people in the best way he can. Additionally, he views his tenure in the Air Force as an avenue to grow his skills and character that will shape his future and, most importantly, to provide for his family. In 2019, Mike Jackson, like a lot of airmen with a few years under their belt, began to contemplate his future. Admittedly, Mike already had a very comfortable life and a promising future; however, an opportunity opened up to him: investment. He realized that this would be an excellent opportunity to invest a portion of his savings to make it grow despite the market’s volatility. After this, he was then approached by a good friend and fellow airmen, Isaiah Moore. He gave Mike an idea to invest in a new app that his brother-in-law was working on. The app was called “Kandiid.”
“I was intrigued and wanted to meet the Kandiid app founder Antoine McLaughlin.” After doing due diligence in studying the market, he decided to invest a big chunk of his savings and became a co-founder of Kandiid. Kandiid is a social media platform designed and created as one of the innovators and pioneers of the social marketplace.
“Your network is your net worth,” said Antoine, and he believes that everyone is a Kreator. Antoine created Kandiid with the desire to empower everyday individuals to hold candid memories by creating albums and assessing the value of their content.
“None of the competitors are offering the resources and applications that will enable users to control the narrative desired,” said Mike when asked why he decided to invest in Kandiid.
Mike is now part of the board of directors for being one of the very first investors in the company. Other than serving the country in an active duty status, Mike Jackson actively contributes to the Kandiid team and collaborates hand-to-hand with the daily operations of creating the app. Despite not having any prior knowledge of building an app, Mike uses his practical applications to give valuable insights into what users feel and need in the app’s functionality.
“The goal now is to create generational wealth which will act as a springboard in hopes my children can avoid life’s pitfalls,” said Mike Jackson. Bearing the desire to look after other airmen, he believes that the total education and resources given to active and retired soldiers are adequate; investing is a viable option that can provide a positive yield. Additionally, while active-duty soldiers can take advantage of the TSP (Thrift Savings Plan), the military doesn’t discourage investing in the stock market.
As an active duty Crew Chief, Mike Jackson carries with him the sentiments of his fellow airmen who share concerns or inquiries about their current future. Mike says, “Investing is not for everyone; however, he recommends that one does their due diligence to study and educate themselves on the market before diving in.”
