Imagine a world where the news doesn’t bombard you with tragedies. A world where hospitals stand empty and doctors enjoy peaceful retirements. A world where tears are a distant memory, replaced by unending joy. This isn’t a romantic fantasy; this is the promise of heaven for those who believe.

The book SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY by Tom Logan explores the concept of heaven, a place described in the Bible as the final destination for followers of Christ. One of the most striking aspects of this heavenly existence is the complete absence of suffering.

A World Untouched by Darkness

Our world is a tapestry woven with threads of joy and sorrow. Laughter and loss are constant companions. Diseases ravage bodies, hearts ache with grief, and relationships crumble under the weight of conflict. The book reminds us that heaven is entirely different. There will be “no more… mourning, or crying, or pain” (Revelation 21:4). Funeral homes, hospitals, and psychiatric wards, symbols of our earthly struggles, will be a thing of the past.

The Absence of Evil’s Grip

Imagine a world untainted by evil. No more violence, abuse, or oppression. The author Tom Logan provides a stark reminder of the negativity that plagues our world: “No more… abortion clinics, divorce courts, brothels, war….” These institutions, born from darkness, will have no place in heaven. Greed, envy, and hatred will be replaced by perfect love and harmony.

A Longing for a Brighter Tomorrow

The concept of a world without suffering brings a profound sense of peace. It whispers hope in the face of despair, offering a glimpse of a future where pain is a forgotten memory. This longing for a better world is a natural human response. We were created for something more, something beyond the struggles and suffering of this life.

The absence of suffering in heaven doesn’t diminish the importance of dealing with these issues on Earth. It inspires us to work towards a better world, a world that reflects the peace and love of heaven. However, it also offers a sense of comfort. Knowing that suffering is not the end, that there is a place where peace reigns supreme, can provide solace in difficult times.

Beyond the Absence: A World Filled with Light

Heaven isn’t just the absence of suffering; it’s the presence of everything good. The book SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY talks about the “Beatific Vision,” seeing God face-to-face, experiencing perfect knowledge and love for Him. This leads to a state of perpetual joy, service, and worship.

A Transformation Within

The absence of suffering isn’t just about external circumstances; it’s also about internal transformation. The author explains that the Beatific Vision frees us from sin. We won’t be tempted by negativity or darkness. This internal change ensures that suffering truly has no place in heaven.

A Hope that Transforms Us

The concept of heaven isn’t just a future destination; it can be a transformative force in our present lives. Longing for a world without suffering can motivate us to be agents of peace and love in our communities. We can actively work to alleviate suffering around us, offering a glimpse of the heavenly light to those who are struggling.

A World We Can Help Build

The absence of suffering in heaven doesn’t mean ignoring the suffering on Earth. It inspires us to build a better world, a world that reflects the values of heaven. We can work towards social justice, offer help to those in need, and promote understanding and forgiveness.

A Final Glimpse

The book SPIRIT, SOUL, AND BODY offers a glimpse into a future filled with hope. It reminds us that even though our world is broken, there is a place where peace and joy reign supreme. Longing for that future can inspire us to live better lives, to spread love and compassion, and to become beacons of hope in a world desperately needing it. Heaven may be a world without suffering, but the journey toward it can begin right here, right now.
