The rumored boyfriend of award-winning music artist Billie Eilish, Matthew Tyler Vorce, is taking a lot of heat from people online after his offensive posts on social media resurfaced recently. The 29-year-old actor was quick to apologize on his personal Instagram account and acknowledged his mistake.
“I want to apologize for the things that I wrote on social media in the past,” Matthew wrote. “The language I used was hurtful and irresponsible and I understand how offensive those words are. Whether it was a lyric, a quote, or just me being dumb, it does not matter. I am ashamed and deeply sorry that I used them in any context.”
The actor did not make excuses for his actions but instead took responsibility for what he did, saying, “I take full responsibility and continue to hold myself accountable for my actions.”
Matthew released his apology after a series of alleged tweets and Facebook posts he did back in 2011 and 2012 resurfaced online. He was accused of making offensive statements involving the Asian and LGBTQ+ community and using the infamous “N” word to address African-Americans.
“It is not how I was raised and it is not what I stand for,” Matthew added in his apology. “I shouldn’t have used this language in the first place and I won’t use it again. I am so sorry for the hurt I have caused.”
Dating rumors involving Matthew and Billie Eilish started when the two were photographed getting cozy with each other last April in Santa Barbara, California. Billie went out to grab coffee with her pit bull alongside a man who was later identified as Matthew. Billie was also photographed resting her head on the actor’s shoulder as he wrapped an arm around her. It instantly sparked romance rumors that neither Matthew or Billie have confirmed so far.
Fans were introduced to Billie Eilish’s previous boyfriend, Brandon Quention Adams, also known as Q, after the release of the singer’s documentary in February 2021 titled Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry. Billie revealed, however, that things between them started to go south when they could not see eye-to-eye on specific matters.
“I just wasn’t happy, and I didn’t want the same things he wanted, and I don’t think that’s fair for him,” Billie explained in the documentary. “I don’t think you should be in a relationship super excited about certain things that the other person couldn’t care less about. I don’t think that’s fair to you. I didn’t think that was fair to him. And there was just a lack of effort, I think. I literally was just like, ‘Dude, you don’t even have enough love to love yourself. You can’t love me, dude. And you don’t. You think you do.'”
As for Mathew, he has appeared in various projects, including Little Monsters (2012), Dark Hours: Typee (2016), and Mother, May I Sleep with Danger? (2016). He is also a writer whose work also involves the theater.
Billie Eilish has yet to make a statement about the recent controversy involving Matthew.
