Caroline Middelsdorf embodies resilience and determination, channeling her journey through trauma into a mission of hope for others. As a psychologist, trauma survivor, and pioneering entrepreneur, Caroline has committed her career to creating a world where trauma survivors feel empowered to heal, reclaim their lives, and build strength. Launching in 2025, her trauma healing program and podcast aim to support people worldwide as they embark on their healing journeys.

From Surviving to Thriving

Caroline’s path to becoming a mental health advocate was anything but conventional. Born and raised in Germany, she studied psychology in the UK. Then, she embarked on a career that took her to Switzerland, where she gained experience in emergency psychiatric care and private clinical settings. Her background includes work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including high-profile athletes and celebrities, giving her a deep understanding of trauma’s complexities. However, Caroline’s true motivation extends beyond her professional life; her struggles with complex PTSD following an abusive relationship have shaped her approach.

During her most difficult period, Caroline found herself homeless in a foreign country, battling to survive while working to regain custody of her son. This time in her life was marked by intense hardship and isolation. She believes her accomplishments were her academic achievements and her ability to persevere in facing such adversity. Her journey is a testament to the strength of the human spirit, exemplifying courage and fueling her dedication to helping others navigate trauma with resilience and hope.

The Creation of BEYOUMA: Because You Matter

Driven by a mission to reach one million people worldwide, Caroline has created BEYOUMA, an initiative that addresses the urgent need for accessible mental health resources. BEYOUMA—standing for “Because You Matter”—provides trauma survivors with practical, easy-to-use tools to aid their healing. This self-help ecosystem includes a box of self-care items and an interactive journal, both designed to guide users in managing symptoms like anxiety and panic attacks while fostering a sense of self-awareness.

In developing BEYOUMA, Caroline aimed to provide survivors with a supportive toolkit to explore at their own pace, complementing their journey toward healing. Acknowledging the challenges within the healthcare system, such as long waitlists for mental health services, she recognized the value of having resources available anytime. BEYOUMA seeks to help survivors reconnect with themselves, cultivate calm, and rediscover their sense of worth as part of their recovery process.

Holistic Healing: Going Beyond Traditional Approaches

Caroline’s healing philosophy is notable for its holistic nature. Having tested various approaches in her recovery, she believes that healing must engage the mind, body, and soul. She has seen firsthand how nutrition, mindfulness, and somatic practices can help restore balance and bring calm and resilience to a survivor’s life. Her program integrates various methods, from mindfulness exercises to nutritional guidance, creating a multifaceted approach to trauma recovery.

Her methods are grounded in personal experience. By addressing her own body’s needs, Caroline regained a sense of peace and stability, which allowed her to connect deeply with those facing similar struggles. BEYOUMA reflects this integrative philosophy, offering resources that address the entire person, not just the mind.

Reaching Further: The Upcoming Podcast

In addition to her trauma program, Caroline plans to launch a podcast in 2025, designed as a supportive space where survivors can find wisdom, comfort, and community. This podcast will feature conversations with experts, survivors, and advocates, exploring the nuances of trauma recovery, from scientific insights to personal stories of resilience. Through this podcast, Caroline seeks to connect survivors with a supportive community where healing becomes a journey.

Carving a Legacy of Resilience for Future Generations

As a single mother, Caroline’s commitment to teaching her son the values of resilience and perseverance is central to her life’s work. She wants him to understand that strength is not merely a word but something lived and felt in moments of struggle. By sharing her journey, she hopes to inspire others who feel defeated by trauma to believe in their capacity for recovery. Her journey is a source of hope, showing that recovery is possible even in the darkest times.

Caroline’s work extends beyond her story, addressing the silence and stigma often surrounding trauma. Her dedication to mental health advocacy reflects her belief that healing is not just a personal journey but a collective one. When individuals heal, they become part of a ripple effect that spreads resilience and hope to others.

Building a New Paradigm for Trauma Recovery

Through BEYOUMA and her upcoming podcast, Caroline aims to redefine mental wellness by normalizing trauma recovery and making mental health resources widely accessible. Her vision is a world where survivors are seen, heard, and supported without judgment. The trauma healing program and podcast are designed to meet people where they are, empowering them to take small, actionable steps toward a brighter future.

As she prepares to launch her initiatives, Caroline invites individuals from all walks of life to join her transformative mission. By openly discussing trauma, providing practical resources, and advocating for inclusive mental health care, she fosters empathy, compassion, and resilience.
