The song has been shared by fans across Instagram & Facebook over 230 times within the first few weeks of release. The music video currently has well over 10,000 views on YouTube within three weeks of release. The artist creating all of this buzz on the R&B scene is Chrissy Sade. She is undoubtedly a rising star in the making!
Chrissy wrote the lyrics to “Forbidden” and sang it for the multi Grammy-nominated Inglewood based producer, Haskel Jackson. “Haskel immediately started playing the keys as I was singing and I think we both knew right then that this song was going to be a hit.” She recalls. The producer previously worked with big artists like H.E.R., Marsha Ambrosius & Kanye West. “Forbidden” is infused with an incredibly catchy melodic vibe and takes you on a journey of emotions that paint a picture of the pains and joys of love. With a vibe reminiscent of the 90s and early 2000s, the R&B track is a heart-tugger and makes you want to belt out the catchy lines in the chorus. “Songwriting is my first love. When I put a melody to my lyrics and it becomes that good, soul-warming R&B that you can feel, that’s when it truly becomes art,” she said.
Chrissy Sade began her music career interning for Virgin Records & quickly became Production Coordinator at EMI Music/Capitol Records in Los Angeles at the young age of 19. As she blazed her way into the music industry behind the scenes, she knew she would eventually open her own Independent Record Label someday. What felt like a far off dream then has now become a reality for the LA-born Songstress. She opened her Independent Record Company, Serendipity Music Entertainment, in the Summer of 2019 and released her debut song “Forbidden” on September 14th, 2020.
The budding artist will be releasing her second single titled “Once Upon A Time” on November 23rd, 2020. The upcoming new single brings to the forefront the successes and struggles of building a life with someone and feeling torn between the relationship and the need for self-love, individuality, and genuine happiness. The music video will soon follow, with a release date in December, and will serve as the sequel to this songstress’ debut music video.
Asked about what is in store for the next few years, she says that she just wants to continue writing and singing ballads that people can enjoy and truly connect with on a deep level. She has come a long way. At one point, she thought she would never be able to sing again. It was in 2016 when the R&B artist learned about the mass that was pressing against her windpipe. Her singing voice eventually came back after surgery. Her biggest adversity made her more determined to go after her dreams. She was told the mass might come back one day. That isn’t going to stop this determined artist from rising to the musical occasion. She says, for now, she just wants to share her songs with anyone who enjoys good R&B music.
