Some people expect the road to greatness to be a smooth journey. But anyone who has pursued a passion or dream will know that this thinking will only result in disappointment. DJ Jerzy knows more than anyone how difficult the path to success might be, but he’ll be the first to admit that the hard climb is always worth it.
A highly praised radio DJ, award-winning artist, and music sensation, Jerzy Roginski, aka DJ Jerzy, seems to have everything going his way. But growing up, the producer and artist has had his fair share of hardships. As a son of Polish immigrants, Jerzy grew up facing many difficulties, including bullying, mental and physical health challenges, and a few devastating car accidents, to name a few. In addition to this, in his early twenties DJ Jerzy had to undergo multiple surgeries, which almost cost him his life. Jerzy stated, “I never gave up on myself, something inside of me told me that I meant to do something big here on Earth.”
Jerzy Roginski grew up in Chicago, Illinois, with his parents and brother. Money was tight for the family early on. Jerzy’s father worked long hours in a factory, and his mother would take multiple jobs to help with the bills. But most days, getting by was tough as the family struggled to make enough to meet even the most basic of needs. Yet amid these adversities, Jerzy’s family persevered until they finally found a breakthrough after starting their own business. Through his parents’ example, Jerzy would learn what it meant to persevere and pivot when times get rough.
Today, he has bounced back from a scarred past and built a great life and career for himself. DJ Jerzy began studying as a full-time nursing student in an accelerated program at Keiser University, which had a hectic schedule (9-5pm M-F, with an additional 12 hour clinical each week). While all of this was occurring, he was able to continue pursuing music on the side, earning a 3.7GPA at the end of the semester. Over the course of 4 months, Jerzy juggled school with making music. DJ Jerzy stated, “I would sometimes stay up all night until lecture started the next day making music losing sleep just because I loved it so much.” DJ Jerzy then started recording tracks and uploading them on the streaming platform Soundcloud and competition charts such as Talentpool. Little did he know that his songs would go viral and reach over 1.3 million streams. Today, DJ Jerzy currently has over 2.4 million streams across various platforms, with multiple tracks reaching over a hundred thousand streams. All within a span of 3 months DJ Jerzy is now signed with music manager Salo Sion, and is currently hosting radio shows with Revolution 93.5, one of Florida’s leading dance radio stations. He is the recipient of five golden #1 track awards on The Spinnin Records Talent Pool World Charts and hopes to get into more charts and win other music awards in the future.
In all he does, the musician from Aventura, Florida, hopes to create music that breaks barriers and brings all kinds of people together. Jerzy stresses the importance of authenticity saying, “Music is bigger than me, most artists are in it for the fame, the girls, money and validation. I am not like that, I want to be an artist to bring people together through my music, earn a living for myself and my family, and whatever funds I have left over on the side is for the people. I want to be in an influential position to be able to address world problems we all face such as; poverty, segregation, climate change, and violence. This is the reason I started music in the first place, to show others that anything is possible, and to help others as much as I can from my own experiences. I want to show the world that it is okay to be vulnerable and to bring awareness to the public of worsening global mental health, a topic that is very often overlooked.” DJ Jerzy also hopes to coach and mentor other artists, helping them transform their past into a life of passion.
