“Chin Simpson is already thriving in the skincare industry and is ready to advance with plans to grow her business, Skin Poem. While facing adversity during the early stages of building her brand, Chin has learned that optimism, loyalty and good intentions will manifest the best results,” Alé Hurtado | @_alehurtado

With the start of the new year, Chin Simpson has her eye focused on building her business empire. As the founder of her skincare brand, Skin Poem, Chin has always had her heart set on excelling within the industry. As Chin moves forward with Skin Poem, she is ready to accomplish her most ambitious desires.

The very early stages of Skin Poem occurred amidst the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic. The emotional impacts of COVID were overwhelming to deal with, but she still continued working on plans to kick start her business. Chin took it upon herself to learn more about healing her mental well-being, which led her to begin exploring energy therapy. She introduced herself to this specific domain by talking to a healer, which provided her with the ability to restore her mental health.

Chin’s main source of inspiration to continue working on her business was her brother’s psoriasis diagnosis. After seeing her brother’s psoriasis affect him severely, Chin took it upon herself to find a way to help. She decided to create skincare specifically designed for those suffering from severe skin conditions. Her new knowledge of energy therapy gave her the foundation to create a skincare brand with good intentions; then one day it simply all came together.

Skin Poem was created to help people feel more confident in their own skin. Having a product that customers can trust day in and day out has been the main premise as to why she started the brand. “I just want to be out there and just know that you know, it’s a reliable brand,” Chin said. “It’s not something that I want to like, go viral. I’d rather have longevity and just, you know, be known as a brand that you can always depend on.”

Chin acknowledges that there are other skincare brands that also excel at their craft. Skin Poem is meant to compliment an individual’s skin care routine, rather than replace the products they are currently using. Yet, what makes Skin Poem different is that it is made with pure intentions. The Skim Poem team functions like a family, where each member supports one another every day. Having a team that shares the same core values is what allows the business to succeed. Chin believes creating an environment that is rooted with a positive purpose will manifest the best outcome.

Before entering the skincare realm, Chin tested out different career paths as well. When Chin graduated college, she had a strong desire to pursue a career in fashion. Her family wanted her to

work for their family business, but Chin knew she needed to explore different career paths before she could truly decide what she wanted to do with her life. After doing some research, Chin found a program in London which specialized in fashion journalism and styling. Her goal was to become a fashion magazine writer. Once she completed the course in London, she returned home and realized her heart was drawing her somewhere else, the family business. Chin felt such a strong loyalty to her family, so working for the business was the most obvious choice. While working under her father, she learned so much about running a business which has influenced her diligence toward her own business.

While Skin Poem continues to flourish, Chin reminds herself that staying grounded in her values will allow her to persevere within the industry. “My view is that you are exactly where you are supposed to be,” Chin said. She utilizes this ideology that regardless of what obstacles may come her way, it all happens for a reason. Chin plans to hone in on her efforts to grow her company this year, and she welcomes any challenges as she knows they will make her stronger in the end.
