Lizz Russell is not your average fashion designer. A creative force in couture, a survivor of a rare and debilitating illness, and an inspiring figure for women everywhere—her story is stitched together with strength, grace, and deep purpose.

Based in Southern California, Lizz Russell is the founder and visionary behind The Lizz Russell Collection, a luxury fashion brand recognized not only for its bold designs and feminine elegance but for its deeply personal mission: to encourage resilience, self-esteem, and ambition in all women. Behind every garment lies a deeper message—one of triumph over adversity.

Lizz’s journey took a dramatic turn years ago when she was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare neurological disorder that can cause muscle weakness, paralysis, and, in some cases, life-threatening complications. While others might have allowed the diagnosis to dim their light, Lizz chose to rise. She turned her battle into a platform to uplift others and transformed her pain into purpose.

This May—GBS Awareness Month—Lizz will mark an extraordinary milestone: the 13th Annual Compassion & Fashion Show, an event that has become a celebrated symbol of advocacy and empowerment in the San Diego community. Set to take place in the coming weeks, the evening will feature a dazzling runway show unveiling three new collections from The Lizz Russell Collection, a special award ceremony honoring GBS/CIDP survivors, and a notable lineup of community leaders.

The event will be co-hosted by retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Jolisa Webb, a highly decorated veteran, and former NFL star turned soulful singer Stephen Pierce, a member of the acclaimed NFL Players Choir. Guests can expect live music from DJ Partyocalypse, delicious fare, and the opportunity to shop exclusive spring fashion pieces in the show’s curated Swag Shop.

At the heart of this event is Lizz’s steadfast commitment to visibility and awareness. “This show is more than fashion,” she shares. “It’s about shining a light on GBS, creating community for survivors, and showing that beauty and strength often coexist.”

Over the years, Lizz has earned attention from local and national media, graced red carpets, and dressed countless women of influence. But it’s her ability to blend elegance with empathy that helps her stand out in the fashion world. Her designs are more than garments—they’re expressions of confidence, healing, and self-worth. Each piece she creates carries a story, often rooted in the very journey that helped her recover. Lizz has become a supportive voice for those navigating invisible battles, and her platform extends far beyond fashion shows. She regularly partners with community organizations, speaks at empowerment events, and mentors young women pursuing careers in both fashion and advocacy. Her resilience is woven into every aspect of her brand, and it’s that combination of personal strength and professional excellence that contributes to her collection’s—and her message’s—timeless appeal. In a world where fashion often overlooks depth, Lizz Russell suggests that true beauty begins within and that grace under pressure can be the fashionable quality of all.

As the world celebrates GBS Awareness Month this May, Lizz Russell stands as an encouraging voice for those who have walked through the fire and emerged radiant. Her fashion is a celebration of survival, and her runway is one of purpose.
