Gal Gadot — The appointment of James Gunn and Peter Safran to run DC Studios drew mixed reviews. On the one hand, many people were interested to see how things turned out, especially given Gunn’s success with Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and DC’s The Suicide Squad film and Peacekeeper series.
Others, meanwhile, were concerned about how, if at all, the DCEU would survive. Gunn and Safran, it turned out, would be pulling down the foundations that Zack Snyder had erected with Man of Steel a decade previously. Instead, they’d be creating a completely new cosmos.

Gal Gadot and Wonder Woman 3
Many wondered what this meant for the heroic trinity of Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, and Gal Gadot with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the leadership of DC Studios. Despite the fact that all three featured in Black Adam, The Flash, and Shazam: Fury of the Gods, it is likely that these were their final appearances in their superhero costumes.
Gal Gadot, on the other hand, was set to return for a third Wonder Woman film with director Patty Jenkins before she opted out. The timing of the announcement fuelled speculation that Gunn and Safran were to blame for her sudden departure, but Jenkins said this was not the case.
“I never walked away,” wrote the Wonder Woman director. “I was open to considering anything of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”
In response, James Gunn stated on Twitter:
“I can attest that all of Peter and my interactions with you were only pleasant and professional.”
Early hopes
Despite the fact that Patty Jenkins has confirmed her departure, Gal Gadot remains hopeful for a third Wonder Woman film despite the changes at DC Studios.
In an early interview promoting her Netflix action film Heart of Stone, Gadot indicated that the new leadership intends to create a third Wonder Woman film.
“I love portraying Wonder Woman,” she said. “It’s so close and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”
Gal Gadot went on to say that Gunn and Safran informed her that a third movie will be produced.
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” she explained. “And what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman – you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
No plans on Wonder Woman 3
Her statements looked to be encouraging at the time, but they have since been proven false.
According to those close to the situation, Wonder Woman 3 is not in the works. Following the release of their Paradise Lost prequel series, James Gunn and Peter Safran do not intend to bring Wonder Woman into the new DC Universe, according to insiders.
Gal Gadot was not assured a third installment, according to sources. There was also no indication of her Wonder Woman still being in the new DC Universe.
The new DC Universe
In January, James Gunn and Peter Safran released the first chapter of their new DC Universe, “Gods and Monsters.”
The only Wonder Woman-related project currently in development was Paradise Lost, which would be accessible on Max. Paradise Lost, characterized as having a similar tone to Game of Thrones, takes place before Wonder Woman on the island of Themyscira. However, Gal Gadot has not been announced to appear, and it looks that she will not.
“It’s really about the political intrigue behind a society of all women,” said Afran.
A new Superman
According to the new DC Studios executives, Superman: Legacy will bring in the new DC Universe in 2025. The film will be written and directed by Gunn.
He stated last month that actor David Corenswet will replace Henry Cavill as Kal-El, who looks to have left big shoes to fill.
Gal Gadot was asked about her thoughts on the new casting, and it looks that she is curious to see how it works out.
“I saw that they were testing, doing different screen tests, but I don’t know who got it, but it seemed like everyone was super legit and talented and, like, great. So I’m happy for them,” she said.
“It’s such a huge take-on and it’s such an exciting beginning to any actor, and I wish whoever it’s going to be the best of luck and enjoy the ride.”
