This event was held as a side event of the G20 Summit in Nusa Dua, Bali and was organized by the Atlantic Council, a US non-profit organization, with support from the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, and the Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation.

The Global Food Security Forum included workshops and high-level panels to discuss world food security conditions and opportunities to create food security solutions. A dedicated panel for ministers and high-ranking officials of the agriculture ministries of various countries was also part of the program. Some of the key figures who spoke at the forum were the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, US Permanent Representative, US Mission to the UN Agencies in Rome Cindy McCain, and Ukrainian Minister of Agrarian and Food Policy Mykola Sol.
Gaurav Srivastava expressed his hope that the forum would serve as a platform for discussion, exchange of ideas, and cooperation to help alleviate food security problems from producers to consumers around the world. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by the global food supply chain, such as rising fuel prices, disruptions in shipping, and inflation. “No single entity is able to fully address these problems,” he said. “Our foundation has advocated for various solutions since its establishment in 2015, especially collaboration, which we hope can occur at the highest level at the Global Food Security Forum.”
Sharon Srivastava, the co-founder of the Gaurav & Sharon Srivastava Family Foundation, shared her husband’s views on the importance of collaboration in addressing food security challenges. “We believe that a collaborative effort between government and private organizations is essential to overcome the numerous obstacles facing global food security,” she said. “We understand the importance of addressing food security issues caused by geopolitical conflicts, pandemics, and climate change.”
