Helena Jauregui showcased both her artistic versatility and creative leadership by serving as choreographer and lead performer in the music video for Awolowo Remix by Fido and Kapo. For Helena, the project was more than another credit on her résumé; it was the fulfillment of a long-held dream she had quietly carried for years.
“I honestly never thought I’d have the chance to merge these two passions,” she says, her voice filled with gratitude. “Acting and dance are both ways of expressing myself freely. When I’m performing, I’m completely present. The problems, the anxiety, everything else disappears.”
For someone like Helena, who has trained across disciplines and navigated multiple creative worlds, the opportunity to choreograph while also taking center stage was both exhilarating and daunting. She knew that to meet the challenge, she had to reintegrate the disciplined mindset of a professional dancer.
Determined to deliver her best work, Helena returned to rigorous dance training, committing herself to a schedule that was as demanding as it was necessary. In the weeks leading up to the shoot, she practiced five to six days a week, often spending two to five hours a day refining her technique. For Helena, this period wasn’t just about muscle memory—it was about rediscovering the passion that dance had always sparked within her.
“The preparation was essential,” she explains. “I needed to rebuild my precision and reconnect with my stage presence. Every rehearsal became a way of reminding myself why I fell in love with dance in the first place.”
The hours in the studio sharpened her physicality, but they also prepared her mentally. Dance, for Helena, has always been a form of meditation, a place where movement clears away doubt. That mindset became vital as she approached the responsibilities of not only performing but also choreographing for the entire cast.
Helena’s role extended far beyond performance. She personally choreographed the full dance sequence, taking complete creative responsibility for how movement would shape and elevate the story. She envisioned dance not as background decoration but as a storytelling tool that could carry emotion and amplify the music’s rhythm.
To bring this vision to life, she collaborated closely with director Iveth Rodriguez. The two spent hours reviewing and refining the choreography, experimenting with adjustments, and aligning on how each movement would translate on camera. Their collaboration was a process of mutual respect and shared artistic vision.
“It was such a rewarding process,” Helena recalls. “The positive energy on set made everything flow smoothly. Everyone gave their best, and you can see that passion in the final video.”
After nearly a month of preparation, filming took place in March 2025. From the moment the cameras started rolling, Helena knew the work had come together. The release of the video was met with enthusiastic reception, resonating with audiences who appreciated both the energy of the song and the artistry of the choreography.
For Helena, however, the success was measured in more personal terms. This project represented a rare chance to unite her two greatest loves: acting and dance. It wasn’t just about steps and timing—it was about channeling emotions through multiple forms of expression, merging body and character into one.
“Bringing acting and dance together felt so natural, like they were always meant to be connected,” she reflects. “This project reminded me why I love performing so deeply. At its heart, it’s all about telling stories, whether through words, emotions, or movement.”
As she looks to the future, Helena views Awolowo Remix not as a one-off achievement but as a stepping stone toward more projects that blend disciplines. Her hope is to continue creating work where performance becomes multidimensional, where acting informs dance, dance informs acting, and both come together to produce something memorable.
“This video showed me that I don’t have to choose between my passions,” she says. “I can live in both worlds and keep building bridges between them. That’s where my impactful art will come from.”
With her dedication, artistry, and fearless approach to storytelling, Helena Jauregui has marked this project as a pivotal moment in her career, one that will likely inspire many more performances where her talents can shine together.
