Amid the battle for mental health, artist Sha Vlimpse is spreading positive vibes through his new project Happy Place EP.
The hip-hop artist Vlimpse knows the mental burden of COVID-19 all too well. Following a barrage of successful releases, governments’ ensuing lockdowns drove Sha into a downward spiral of depression. But in his darkest days came the inspiration for what would become his latest and more monumental project to date. Happy Place reflects on the many challenges we face in life and the importance of having a positive outlook. The project is a collection meant for those who struggle with mental health issues and depression.
The pinnacle of the project is the title track with the same name. The song “Happy Place” carries a powerful message that sparks inspiration in those who struggle with the stigma of mental health and the weight of struggling with depression. The song’s music video also features the performances of Cirque Italia, the first traveling Water Circus which provides an experience where technology and performing arts are mixed to create a one-of-a-kind show. Due to the health crisis the show has faced the destructive effects of lockdowns head-on. Battling uncertainty, Cirque Italia looks for ways to stay afloat with 25% capacity due to virus containment efforts. Sha is determined that by showcasing their acts on his music video that there will be better and “happier days” for the cirque soon.
Vlimpse’s latest album, Happy Place, delivers six other hard-hitting songs. The discography includes tracks like “Motherless Child,” “LMMD,” “Rapunzel,” “America,” “Rapper Vs. Radio,” and “Lowest Lows.” Sha has published the project under his independent label, IUTBAR Records, and distributed his music to platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and so on.
Happy Place is Vlimpse’s third project. His first project, Wait Till You Hear My Album, first came out in 2018. The next year he launched his sophomore album, Capture the Flag. This year’s release puts him on a perfect annual streak in releasing records, and he has no plans of slowing down.
Sha Vlimpse is a force to be reckoned with on the hip-hop front. He has created massive success for himself on YouTube, gathering over 400,600 views and 15,000 loyal subscribers. On Facebook, the artist already has 14,000 followers and is growing. His Instagram is close behind with a following of over 8,000 fans.
Aside from his music career, Vlimpse is also a man of science by profession. He hopes to grow his music career shortly and turn it into a full-blown pursuit. In all he does, Vlimpse honors his family, especially his father, who gave the artist his blessing to pursue hip hop music despite their traditional Islamic background.
