Tatyana, could you tell us about your background and experience and what inspired you to create a salon in Manhattan?
I have been working in the eyelash extension industry for over 9 years. When I moved to New York, I faced the challenge of finding qualified specialists. At that time, there were very few salons and even fewer seemed to offer quality services. It was often difficult to get an appointment with a reputable specialist, as the schedule was booked months in advance.
At the same time, I realized how eyelash extension procedures could simplify the lives of city residents who want to look beautiful and well-groomed with minimal effort and time investment. I decided not to wait for the perfect moment and saw an opportunity to offer New Yorkers the high-quality services that were in short supply.
I trained with leading masters from Eastern Europe, obtained my license, and began welcoming my first clients in New York. As the number of clients grew, I decided to create a cozy salon and found what I believed to be the perfect location on Madison Avenue. That’s how Lashes and the City Salon came to life.
Who are your typical clients, and which services are most in demand?
Our clients represent successful New Yorkers—independent, accomplished women, including lawyers, financiers, and CEOs of prominent companies, who often balance their careers, personal lives, and motherhood.

The most popular services among clients appear to be eyelash lifts, natural eyelash extensions, and permanent eyebrow makeup in natural techniques. Our clients mainly value natural beauty, and I have noticed that this is becoming the new trend toward authenticity.

Eyelash extensions are the primary focus of our salon services. In addition, we provide eyebrow shaping and correction, permanent makeup, and the increasingly popular lash lift procedure—known for its speed and efficiency. The treatment takes under an hour, and the results typically last up to 6 weeks. Our lash lift service aims to give lashes a natural, elongated look with a subtle curl, while the keratin treatment may help enhance lash thickness and health.
We also apply black dye along the full length of the lashes, which can add depth to the eyes and create a mascara-like effect, potentially reducing the need for daily makeup routines.

What are your goals for the future?
We’re focused on expanding and hoping to open new locations across New York. Currently, our flagship salon is located at the intersection of Madison Avenue and 33rd Street, but we’re exploring opportunities to grow with additional branches. My aspiration is to walk through the streets, see beautiful lash work, and feel proud knowing it was either done in our salon or crafted by one of our talented students.
At present, my studio is home to seven highly skilled technicians, and we’re in the process of expanding our team. I’m also committed to sharing my expertise by teaching students new techniques and approaches to the craft. Each month, I host free demo classes where I demonstrate effective practices for our services on live models. Many attendees from these sessions go on to become students, allowing us to pass on our knowledge and nurture new talent.
