Widely considered the next big thing in the sports media and news reporting sectors, YSM Sports Media is currently enjoying a position at the top of the game. However, getting there was nowhere near easy, as the creation of this go-to provider of top-notch sports content is a culmination of years of hard work, ambition, and dedication. The brainchild of Jamil Parker, this media company is a testament to how far one can come when one pushes forward amid the odds.
From the beginning, YSM Sports Media has gone all-out in providing the web with reliable coverage of a wide range of sports events and personalities. Most known for its pieces on boxing events, it has interviewed a long list of prominent names, such as Andre Ward, Bob Arum, Eddie Hearn, Jaron Ennis, Max Kellerman, Terence Crawford, Teofimo Lopez, Deontay Wilder, Caleb Plant, Claressa Shields, Greg Hackett, Tyrone Williams, Will Parks, and Dr. Boyce Watkins. Additionally, it boasts interviews that have been featured in over thirty articles for major publications.
The heights that YSM Sports Media has reached so far are thanks to several factors like its commitment to delivering value-rich content to today’s digital space and the passion of its employees, including Chris Mealey, Ashley Clarke, Kai Bermudez, and Darius Coit. Deserving of credit, as well, is the leadership of Jamil Parker, a Pennsylvania native whose emergence from humble beginnings sets an example for others to follow.
With years of experience in the entrepreneurial realm under his belt, Jamil Parker is all too aware of the value grit, and hard work brings to the table. His father, a businessman himself, exposed the YSM Sports Media founder to the world of business at an early age.
“I worked for him straight out of college for over ten years,” shared Jamil Parker. “I started out cleaning the bar and passing out flyers, eventually making my way to General Manager.”
During the decade he dedicated to the business, Jamil Parker grew jaded about basketball and his career in the sports scene. Stepping away from the sports, he did not expect to develop a deep-seated interest in boxing ultimately.
“Because of my new-found love for boxing, I joined boxing groups on Facebook to debate about the sport. After one heated discussion, Intu Boxing correspondent Paul Humphreys reached out to me to offer me a position at the company,” recalled Jamil Parker.
That offer would herald the beginning of a journey toward the field of sports content creation. Capitalizing on his in-depth knowledge of the business sector and banking on his extensive experience, he began planting the seed that would flourish into what is now YSM Sports Media.
On March 28, 2019, YSM Sports Media released its first content. From there, it would carve a path toward the limelight by covering all major sports. Right now, the company continues to cement its standing in the industry, gaining the trust of countless brands and forging partnerships with the likes of NBA Shop, NFL Shop, Paramount+, and American Provenance.
