Jasmine J. Walker treads the depths of her deepest and darkest moments in her beautifully crafted debut album, Believe. Raised in New Jersey by her musically inclined parents, Heather and Reshid Walker, Jasmine has lived her whole life surrounded by music. Her mother is a gospel singer while her father is an educator and piano player, both from Brooklyn, New York. Following through with her family’s lineage of musicians, Jasmine has stepped up to the plate and has taken the path toward music like her parents before her.
In 2008, Jasmine performed in a production of the play The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, alongside Tatyana Ali. She also performed in Hot 97’s Health Awareness Convention in 2012 in New York City. When 2009 came, she performed as the background vocalist for Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds during their Push the Sky Away tour.
Her musical prowess only grew more and more as the years went by and as she further progressed in her career. Furthermore, she has also had projects that tapped into her other talents, such as poetry and filmmaking. She published her first poetry book called Seize the Moment in 2016. She also starred in her first short film, Bruised but Not Broken, a film which she also wrote and directed. The film was a wildly successful project for Jasmine and currently has over 300,000 views on YouTube.
She obtained a bachelor of arts degree in mass communication at Delaware State University in 2017. And went on to publish her second book entitled Note to Self and was featured on the stand-up comedy show Comedy Knockout. In 2019, she was also featured on the game show Let’s Make a Deal. It’s safe to say Jasmine has had a lot of media exposure through her many features.
Jasmine recently released her debut album entitled Believe, which she created during the times when she was in a dark place. She suffered through depression and had thoughts of suicide even while she was creating the album, but she never faltered and wanted to put out an inspirational record for her audience. Jasmine J. Walker is a girl from around the way, with a whole lot to say. And that much is apparent with what she has brought to the table with Believe.
Believe serves as an inspiration to people everywhere. It speaks of the triumphs of one woman who conquered her deepest and darkest demons and rose above them by the grace of God. Half of the entire record is spoken word, which brings out Jasmine’s poetic background and puts it in an even greater light. Jasmine wants the record to ring true to everyone who is currently struggling with their own problems.
Jasmine J. Walker has released a record that’s so pure and true to her nature that she wants it to resonate with her audience and have the same lasting effect that it has had on her own life. She wants other people that are living in darkness to see the light. Jasmine sees this as her God-given purpose, and it has brought her a lot of inner motivation and has relinquished the darkness that she holds deep inside. She wishes the same for her audience and fans all over the world.
