Performance is known for the burning of calories and unwanted accumulated body fats, but with this comes the susceptibility to various body and muscle injuries, including sprain, hamstrings, among others. Also, because many professional sports teams do not have a standby injury therapist or a specialist who is hands-on and trained in the act of helping players recover from their injuries, Jim Bradham is standing as a stop-gap to this inadequacy and providing injury-related services to not just athletes in the sport, but to musicians, movie stars and essentially anyone who is into any form of performance.
Jim Bradham is a massage therapist with over 20 years of experience dealing with and helping athletes recover from their injuries. With a specialty in sports-related injuries, Jim is credited to have worked with young athletes from amateur up through professional levels, as well as musicians. For two decades, Jim has been developing and fine-tuning a system of therapy known as the Trigger Point Protocols. He helps athletes identify their injury trigger points and facilitate their recovery and rehabilitation program using the specific protocol and in line with their injury.
Trigger points are what Jim refers to as little “dams” within a muscle where a muscle build-up produces the waste products. With the number of times players put in for either practice or a game, it becomes imperative to keep muscles in check. This is because when running the court, cutting, jumping, setting picks, landing, shooting, and so on, muscles contract more, and in turn, produce a lot more lactic acid and other waste products. When the waste products become abundant, the human body has a hard time filtering them out, and multiple trigger points begin to develop in multiple muscle groups. Therefore, addressing the trigger points right after every gameplay is very important as this will bring in fresh blood, oxygen, and glucose needed by the muscles. It will also flush out the waste products. As well as help the muscles recover faster and retrain them to function properly.
With his nearly two decades’ experience as a massage therapist and a sports-related injury specialist, Jim has seen it all, as associates and patients have continued to speak highly of his treatment techniques and how effective they are. Therefore, he seems like the perfect person to develop a unique and original treatment technique. The rest of the game industry would latch on to it because he is not only an expert because he said he is, but he has proven his expertise time and time again.
In what he describes as a Basketball Muscle Health Protocol, Jim succinctly identified and explained the top areas in which every sports person must pay attention to if they want to have an injury-free career. He listed hydration, nutrition, sleep, mental and emotional stress, strength and conditioning, addressing active and latent trigger points, among several other protocols they must pay attention to.
Although sports-related injuries are not limited to sporting activities or athletes alone, Jim targets an audience comprising anyone who wants to stay fit and injury-free. And on what separates him from his competition, he said, “I specialize in trigger point therapy, which retrains muscles to function the way that they are supposed to. Developed trigger point protocols to speed up muscle recovery time.”
Jim attributes his motivation and drive to the desire to want to help as many athletes and people stay healthy and active, having seen first-hand how devastating career-ending injuries can be, not only physically but its emotional toll. And in five years, Jim hopes to become an international sports and injury therapist with enough clout and reach to help people worldwide.”
