Music has long been established as a force that can bring people together and build communities of like-minded individuals from different walks of life. Connected through the same medium, artists and listeners alike hold the power to influence the world. Banking on this, the emerging household name kazaizen has taken on the mission to try to impact the current status quo, even on the smallest of scales, for the betterment of everyone, regardless of their background, culture, or beliefs.
Hailing from Saint Paul, Minnesota, Jonny Kasai, better known as kazaizen, is part of a collective of musicians releasing solo albums and collaborations from 2021 onwards. This group is making waves in the music scene with its vision to revolutionize the industry and its passion for exploring current events through songs.
Since dipping his toes in the highly competitive music industry, kazaizen has reached incredible heights because of his signature sound and outstanding creative outputs. Bridging the gap between 60s psychedelia and today’s contemporary styles, he gives listeners a taste of psychedelic pop-rock through his incredible songs.
This multi-instrumentalist is adamant about challenging and addressing the long-standing perceptions about the craft and how things are done, questioning where genres begin and end by delivering tracks that are not cut from the same cloth. On one end, his discography boasts tracks that sound surreal and melancholy. Melodically drifting away with reverberating electric pianos and organs, these tracks stand apart from his other brainchildren, which are characterized by their ethereal and dazed notes.
Kazaizen is preparing for the launch of his debut album, Cyclops Dragon Light Switch,” and has introduced four singles and accompanying music videos, the first of which is called “Oranjtanman.” Widely acknowledged as a throwback of the protest songs of the past, this specific track attracted the attention of multiple music media outlets for its direct call-out on the hypocrisy playing out throughout the nation. It was released shortly before the US Presidential election and embodied the thoughts of millions of Americans.
Kazaizen is also the creative mind behind the single “What The Funk,” which referenced the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the track “Telephone (All Alone).” The latter delves into people’s attachment to their mobile phones. Recently, he dropped the piece, “Bye the Sea,” and this December 27 release contains lyrics such as “I want to live out by the sea, where it will be just you and me,” hinting at people’s desires amidst the quarantine measures imposed all over the world.
At the heart of the musical endeavors taken on by kazaizen is the mission to inspire others and stand as a comrade among those who want to evaluate the world and focus on the commonalities that can ring people together.
Strongly driven to make a difference, kazaizen aims to establish his own label in the coming years. Through his professional endeavors, he hopes to give back to communities and help advocate for just causes worldwide, establishing foundations geared toward providing for people in need. All the while, he is setting his eyes on building an empire within the music industry.
