Kelly Reddington never grew up with a cushy lifestyle. In fact, he was raised by a single mother of three in the third-worst part of Buffalo, New York. He knew that he wanted to get out of that lifestyle, so he strived hard to become rich. He started his first-ever business venture at the age of 15 years old. It was a fundraising company called Altered Seasons Candle Co. The idea to establish the company started when he saw the need for it within his school. Their sports teams were lacking the necessary funding, so Reddington quickly jumped on the opportunity to help raise funds.
Like wildfire, the calls from other schools came quickly, asking to have their own fundraising campaigns as well. Altered Seasons Candle Co. became a huge success, generating $75,000 before Reddington even turned 18 years old.
Eventually, he had to sell the company for his own personal reasons. He felt like he was missing out on life too much as a young adult by managing a business that became huge overnight. So he sold the company to a regional fundraising company for $1,000,000. He fell into depression once he sold his own company and started spending a lot of money on material possessions. He felt like he had so much to catch up on in life, so he bought all the things he couldn’t afford during his childhood.
It took a while, but after his struggles, Reddington got back up on his feet and started establishing another business venture. He founded REDDEQ, which is a portmanteau of ‘Reddington’ and ‘Equity,’ to invest in other people’s ideas and businesses. He invested in Bitcoin due to a friend’s advice when it was at $1,200 per bitcoin. Later that year, Bitcoin surged to $20,000, so Reddington managed to sell at $17,500. He eventually transitioned into real estate investment, as he made some costly mistakes, but he’s been more than happy with that prior investment.
As an entrepreneur and digital creator, Reddington has worked and collaborated with some of social media’s biggest influencers, such as Caitlin O’Connor, Jessica Bartlett, Danny Duncan, NELK Boys, and America’s Next Top Model Contestant Ava Capra. What began as a childhood dream has now become a big reality for Reddington, and he’s more than proud of what he has achieved over the past few years.
With his passion for business, he wanted to establish a brand that was bold, fun, and energetic. He wanted to drive sales through social media and exposure. So with the help of many talented artists and models, he was able to grow his humorous candle company Big Wick Candle Co. into what it is today.
