Like many others, Leonty McCarthy lost his job at the world’s most famous arena Madison Square Garden due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But he chose to turn what initially seemed like a negative situation into an opportunity for him to explore other industries where his newfound interests and passion lie.
Leonty McCarthy was born in Russia and moved to North Carolina when he was only six years old. Through the years, he has worked with professional sports teams such as New York Knicks, New York Rangers, Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets. Before the pandemic hit, he worked at the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden.
Seeing the pandemic coming, Leonty McCarthy quickly took action and moved out of Manhattan to Brooklyn to cut costs. “It’s all about adapting to our new changes, and the ones that are willing to do will be better off in the long run,” he expresses. Initially, he was bummed out over losing his dream job, but he knew things were beyond anyone’s control. “To hear that events aren’t going to happen until 2021 was awful. But I understood that it wasn’t based on my performance. That helped control my negative mindset,” shares Leonty in a Psychology Today article where he was featured. He knew he had to adapt and view the situation differently. Soon, he realized that despite having to leave Madison Square Garden, the situation provided him a window of new opportunities during his downtime.
Today, Leonty McCarthy has been exploring his other interests and passion for brand promotion and marketing. He is even working with independent directors in the TV and film industry. For the longest time, he expressed interests in acting, but never really had the time to do so during his hectic schedule. Now, with the present situation at hand, he is finally taking ownership of his other interests.
Indeed, Leonty McCarthy, in 2020 is built quite differently when it comes to his mindset. For him, 2020 is still one of the best years, as this is the year where he is determined to build a better version of himself. “I was never a long-distance runner, but for the first time, I ran a half-marathon and have put in well over 100 miles a month during quarantine.” Leonty was a sprinter in high school, so for him to run more than 100 meters takes grit. “There has been a lot of downtime to do self-reflection, and to understand what the future holds, the key is to find positive self talk and just run with it.” In line with this, he urges others to view life from a lens where any negative situation always presents opportunities in one way or another. Today, he is a rising influencer with over 11,000 followers on Instagram alone. Through his posts, he hopes to inspire others to continue chasing after his dreams amid the challenges that may come their way.
In the future, Leonty McCarthy hopes to take organizations and businesses to the next level by ensuring customer satisfaction and skyrocketing business revenue. He also has his eyes set on exploring the world of film and television as a creative artist.
Ready to take on the world and uplift others, the rising influencer chooses to believe that “if you do something difficult, life gets so much easier.”
