Marline Michael knew there is something to her story that can inspire and empower others. While she knew firsthand what it means to fight for something she loves, she made a decision that will push her to share her vulnerability to the world. She didn’t follow her heart, and this is her story.
Looking back, Marline Michael had been through a lot. She had also seen and heard different stories about love from her parents and grandparents. From hardships to overcoming judgment to loving despite it all, her story weaves all of these stories she grew up with. Unfortunately for her, it was not a love she dreamed of. Even when love should be able to ignite a spark naturally, she embarked on a journey of learning to love her husband. However, this journey taught her what it really means to find true love. For her, finding true love means finding yourself and your Creator.
Marline Michael was born in Haiti, but it was the American dream that drew her far away from her culture and her roots. Her dad took the chance when the country needed more workers. Unfortunately, although he came to the United States as a professional worker, he didn’t know any English words, and his goal of pursuing his field didn’t happen. Instead, he needed to learn English first before he could go for what he was applying for. Despite that, she and her mom stood by her dad and endured all of the hardships.
Marline Michael shares a story of love and prejudice, going from issues on skin color and status. This was the standard set on couples back in the day — unfortunately, even until now.
Her great-grandmother didn’t like how her grandmother married an African man and decided to disinherit her. It was not only because of the color of his skin but also because he had no title to his name. Her grandfather was poor, but this didn’t stop them from following their hearts and loving each other unconditionally. From generation to generation, the same story happens, and Marline Michael knew that stories like this could inspire others and change the world.
Marline Michael chose another path to love. It was complicated and sad, but for her, it was a lesson she would bravely share with the world.
Marline Michel loves to sing and write songs about love and religion. She would love to share them with the world; the only thing stopping her is that she has no money to put them into music. Also everyone that she shares her songs with loves them. One of her coworkers actually told her that she reminded him of a young Barbra Streisand. If given a chance, she feels that she can go far with her songs. She also stated that she has written songs on just about everything, mainly life itself. She continued to state that she is a very fun and loving person, and it shows in her songs. She further stated her songs are soft, like R&B music or ballads or folk. She said with intent that she would love to have a musician who does not mind working with her to push her songs out there, as her songs are all about life itself.
Marline shares, “I feel like life is a song, and you got to sing it. Life is a dance, you have to dance it. It’s a journey, complete it. It’s a struggle, fight it. It’s love, romance it. It’s a game, play it.” Marline does not view sharing her thoughts as vulnerability because she loves to share and also learn through others. “When you put something out there about yourself, it shows me you are courageous and sharing, and being all that you are, and ought to be, is just fabulous, not vulnerable.”
Through her story and her talents, she knows she will make it big one day. She believes that she can do anything, and that means being on television and, later on, becoming a celebrity. She hopes that one day, just like her, women will be empowered to make their dreams become a reality. For Marline Michael, no matter what you’ve been through, your story is important.
