Marvelous Cinematic Feat Iravin Nizhal Is the First Ever Non-linear Single Shot Film in the World

The ever-evolving industry of film is constantly looking for new, innovative ways to excite audiences and challenge creativity. At a time in society where it seems as though everything has already been done and thought of, the film Iravin Nizhal breaks boundaries with a never-before-seen cinematic experience.

Following the journey of the film financier Nandhu, the movie written and conceived by its lead actor Radhakrishnan Parthiban tells the story of a protagonist struggling with internal guilt as he searches for his mortal rival. With a script that has been in the works for the past ten years, this unique and harrowing tale has been given depth and brought to life by some of the best global talents in the entertainment industry today. At its helm, Radhakrishnan is a lauded performer that has been awarded three times at the prestigious Indian National Film Awards. In addition, he has acted in over 72 movies while directing and producing films known for their culturally-rooted themes as well as their skillfully crafted dialogues.

Adding to Radhakrishnan’s flair for language is two-time Grammy winner Allah Rakha Rahman, who created Iravin Nizhal’s music and background score. Allah Rakha, who is recognized as an Academy Award winner for his work in the 2008 worldwide box office hit Slumdog Millionaire, also worked in the film together with Supervising Sound Designer Craig Mann and VFX Supervisor Cottalango Leon, both Academy Award winners, celebrated for their exceptional talent in sound mixing and scientific and technical achievement, respectively.

Composed of a star-studded ensemble of visionaries, this talented group of creatives has made the marvelous cinematic feat that is Iravin Nizhal. The groundbreaking work of art is set to be the first ever of its kind as a non-linear single-shot film. This extraordinary endeavor was made possible with an enormous set of 59 settings, over 300 actors, and 150 technicians. The crew went through more than a handful of costume and makeup changes to accommodate 50 years’ worth of time periods, all encapsulated in one single shot that was achieved in a whopping 90 days’ worth of rehearsals. To ensure the accuracy of the film’s narrative, the team had to take multiple takes of the colossal single shot, making sure to creatively overcome challenges and issues that came along the way.

This experimental gem is a revolutionary leap for Indian Cinema and the film landscape at large, as well as one of the best works coming from Tamil cinema and the Indian Film Industry in general. While it’s set to become an official entry for the Oscars, Iravin Nizhal has already garnered countless accolades from prestigious film festivals all over the world – from Istanbul, New York, Toronto, and many more places.

Currently, the Iravin Nizhal is available for streaming on Prime Video. Furthermore, interested movie enthusiasts can get a sneak peek into the making of history through the team’s well-documented Behind the Scenes page.
