We had the pleasure of interviewing Roni Davis, a creative woman with a unique brand. While she harbors many talents including acting and writing, Roni has a degree in psychology, and is a certified Life Coach. The most interesting part about her psychology is the dating method she created.

We wanted to know where it all truly began. Roni lives in Los Angeles now but she grew up in Nebraska where, let’s just say, life is less complicated when it comes to dating.  In Nebraska, there’s not much to choose from, she explained. Coming to California, she was single and suddenly had several numbers in her phone – her phone blew up! She had lots of numbers in her phone, whereas there were not many people to choose from back in her hometown.

Of course uprooting her entire life to California was not solely focused on dating. Acting has always been her first passion. When she first moved out to California, she jumped right into the entertainment world. She hired acting coach Bobbi Chance, and started acting in movies and other projects. While she capitalizes on acting and working in entertainment, mental health has always meant a lot to her and that is what made her become a psychologist and life coach. Naturally overtime, she analyzed the people she surrounded herself with and the men she would date; their behaviors and patterns.

This is when she came up with her own dating method called the Color Code Dating Method.

The methods are broken down into two:

  • Color code dating method for singles
  • Love cycle TLC for couples and relationships

Creating the CCD Method led to writing her book “How to be Single: Color Code Dating and The Love Cycle”. As you’re dating you utilize the different colors to determine what type of person you’re dating in regards to goals. She says, “Imagine the people you’re dating as a roster,” and you organize your dating list that way. Roni breaks it down as follows:

Let’s start with orange which is one of her favorites:

The Friendzone – When you meet someone orange, the main feature is your friend zone color. They are usually very interested in you as a dating partner, but the feeling is not mutual for you. Your oranges may have a lot in common with you, but you’re not interested in them as a potential dating partner. You have great energy with them, but you don’t feel romantically or sexually connected, but they are great friends.

Yellow Positive Potential  – The person who is yellow is a positive in your life and is always there for you:

Think of yellow as a sunshine positivity yellow is of a person you meet where you automatically have the same feelings as an orange but this person you like a little bit a person who is growing on you is a person who you will go on dates with, you might kiss them, you might fondle, but you don’t like them sexually enough to want to engage in sexual intercourse or a relationship but enough to go on dates with.  (https://www.colorcodedating.com/codeyellow)

Blue Long Distance Lover – Blue is for those in a long distance relationship:

Blue is the color right in the middle of the diaphragm, and the reason why it’s in the middle of the diaphragm is that it’s like the ocean. Think of the sky and the blue ocean waves that constantly wave in and out motions…. Blue is based on the location they are not in your proximity. they are not near you enough for you to love them like you want to, so they become your Blue like the ocean in and out.

Money Machine Green – The Sugar Daddy or Sugar Mama

Now the next color is green. We all like Green because it means you have money in growth, vitality, usefulness, and financial security. After all, green is money. Green represents life, trees, and your sugar daddy or sugar mama. If you meet someone green, it simply means that they are willing and have the means to take care of you financially, but you have no liking for them…. People call them Sugar Daddy, and Sugar Mamas.

She went on to say that Greens eventually expire because they can get agitated and want something in return.

Red – Passion Intimacy

A red represents all passion, no relationship, no texting or talking, no long conversations, and no dates. It’s late-night hookups, passion, and sex.

Last but not least is Black -The Match

The black is the instant love-at-first-sight energy. When you meet a black, you think to yourself, “I met my match,” because the BLACK represents the ultimate Dating potential you’ve been looking for; a dating mate that feels and looks like what you want instantaneously when you meet them.

Roni went into detail about the common “love cycle” we all experience in relationships:

Stage 1 – LOVE

Blackout – The honeymoon phase; bliss, love, the stay like to stay at because you’re communicating, vibing, and have lots of chemistry.

Stage 2 – THE FADE

The phase where things begin to fade – not having sex like you used to, not as much chemistry, and more work involved.

Stage 3 – BREAKUP

When both parties in the relationship don’t put in enough work you break-up.

Stage 4 – IN THE CLEAR

This stage is very important and should not be skipped or ignored. This stage occurs when you are completely over and healed from your break-up. You are not emotionally attached and you’re not dating anyone as well so the point of the the clear stage as you’re not dating anyone but you’re over your ex so you’re dating yourself. Self-love itself and self-care. The healing process begins at this stage, and you begin to do things that you always want to do with your friends and family. You feel relieved, you feel free and you’re doing the work.

Stage 5 – COLOR CODE DATING- The next stage is back to Color Code Dating so after you heal, you will wake up and more you will wake up and feel an instant rush of relief and a sense of freedom that inspires you to want to date again. So this day is your back into the dating world you’re back color code dating in organizing your daily roster.

Here’s something important she pointed out for the people who jump from relationship to relationship. “Breakups hurt. We cry, there’s pain and depression, and it takes time to heal,” Roni said.

The most important part of her method is the single phase. “Being single is the most important part because it cultivates who you are. It’s a vital stage of getting your own energy back,” she emphasized. This is a crucial time to take time for yourself. “Get through that breakup and know what it’s going to be. When you’re over your ex and in the clear, that’s the most important time to date yourself and bucket list,” she said. When you feel fully healed and ready to jump back into dating, this is when the Color Code Dating Method will come into play and help you stay organized.

What challenges have you had to overcome being a woman in your industry?

“Challenges I’ve had to overcome are certain situations I’ve had to bypass as a woman doing business with men. There’s always an extra step or something I have to dodge. If I could work with women in business in Hollywood that would be my choice”. I’m sure many of us women can relate! Often it can be challenging to get men to take us seriously in any industry.

“Keeping a steady flow and the cost of living in LA can be quite dreadful. Other than that I think I’m pretty good!” Also relatable in this economy in most places across the United States since post-Covid inflation etc.

What are main habits you do on a daily basis that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?

  • I study – I’m an avid learner. I tend to find out about anything and everything that’s going on and always want more knowledge.
  • I work out 5 days a week at the gym, which keeps my mind clear-minded and sane.
  • Staying positive! I’ve had bad days here and there, and tons of challenging moments but I’m always thinking positive and enforcing it every day. Even part of this is making your bed which is something I never did as a child but it’s a positive way to start the day.

We wanted to know who inspires Roni.

Viola Davis and Meryl Streep are her two favorite actresses and Oprah Winfrey has always been her top inspiration since a little girl. Nicky Minaj’s music has gotten her through a lot of things and the music keeps her going.

Roni utilizes her book and creativity to create a range of projects for her audience. One is a music video called “Mr. Persistent”. She also has her own dictionary, which includes her own terms. She also has “No Means No” shirts that go hand in hand with the “me too” movement and her brand consists of acting, music and coaching services.

What advice can you give to readers?

“Find love!” she says. Roni emphasized that she really wants to bring more love to the world.

The secret to life is to stay positive and that love is still alive. If you are positive and have intentions on what you want, then your dreams become your reality. Keep working at it.

Just moving here 10 years ago from Omaha and talking here with you today is amazing. I have friends and family who didn’t make it because they gave up.

My motto is for people to be “happily single, and open for love,” and if you are in love, or in a relationship to maintain love and keep the love alive and thriving.
