It takes a lot for film enthusiasts to make it in the entertainment industry. Apart from having a vision, one should be able to execute them well. In the urban scene, Michael “Kleos” Chin has been doing exactly that since 2016.
Michael Chin made the waves when he created, produced, and acted in his own web series called “The Root of All Evil,” otherwise known as #TROAE. The series follows Chin’s character, who is stuck in a dilemma as his teenage love Aaija, a dancer with great aspirations, participates in the drug trade to get a better chance to reach stardom. Running for five episodes, Chin would be able to turn the series into a short film.
The Root of All Evil established Chin as the best and youngest urban playwright in the industry. Michael Chin started pursuing acting at a young age, having joined performing arts programs in elementary, middle, and high school. During his high school stay, Chin managed to make a big name for himself within the DMV area. He amassed a following on social media for making comedy skits. Chin also won monologue competitions at theater festivals within his area.
After winning those competitions, Chin took an interest in writing, directing, and acting in his own films. He took up writing because of the many stories he wanted to tell. Although he was young, Chin was confident as he had powerful ideas and voice.
Being in the entertainment industry, people like Chin need to put his works out there for the world to see. Today’s popular media include the likes of Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and HBO Go, among many others. Although he has found success through YouTube and social media, Chin has created his own brand of streaming service called Flameous Flix. He will be launching his films and web series in February 2021, with The Root of All Evil set to be the first project on air.
Michael Chin credits the success he’s found in entertainment to God. Being a Christian, he creates stories that the young, urban, and faith-based communities can resonate with. His audience includes the young, old, urban, Christians, and non-Christians as he narrates the reality of life. Chin’s stories reassure everyone that no matter who they are or what they’ve done, there is hope and faith in God.
The urban director, actor, and writer brings his talent and faith outside of entertainment too as he and his lovely fiancé Desireé Morgan collaborated on writing a book. Titled “Almost Not Born,” the young couple created a Christian non-fiction book that follows the trials of a character named Destiny. In it, Destiny is antagonized by the devil himself, who tries to meddle in her life before birth, as God has great plans for Destiny’s life.
Michael Chin is praying for greater success as he targets winning awards in playwright and filmmaking. His main goal is to strike his own television show deal and tour the world with his stageplays.
