Hailing from the small town of Herndon in the state of Virginia, Brandon Douglas Alexander Jones, more famously known as Micyde, is finally ready to shake up the hip-hop industry. Though Micyde’s story hasn’t always been a story of initial success, the artist had to suffer through a lot of experiences to mold him into who he is today.
At a very young age, Micyde was adopted by his single mother, who happened to be in the law enforcement industry. This was the first roadblock towards the pursuit of his career choice. Though five years ago, he lost his cousin due to excessive drug use leading him to take his own life. That memory drastically motivated Micyde to create music and try to master his craft.
Over the years, Micyde has substantially progressed, and he finally feels ready to show the world what he has to offer. Formerly known as Jones & Co, he has now officially rebranded to Micyde, which reads as “My Side.” He plans to show the music industry what he’s made of, something they people are never prepared for.
Micyde personally writes his own music in his studio and records himself. He mixes and masters his own work, and has now started to get into the more producer side of things. To cut it short, Micyde is becoming a full-fledged hip-hop artist, and audiences everywhere should look out for how this artist eventually grows into the biggest hip-hop artist yet.
His beats aren’t solely focused on Hip-Hop and R&B, Micyde makes sure to incorporate other genres and other flavors to his music as well to make it sound fresh and innovative. Within a short period of time, he has garnered over 5,800 monthly streams on Spotify and has earned himself a “verified artist” tag.
Some of Micyde’s more popular tracks include “Try To Stop Me!”, “ISO,” “No Hook,” and “Trippie Red!”, the latter has been played over 2,300 times on Soundcloud and is looking to get more and more listens day by day.
Micyde wears his inspirations on his sleeve, drawing his artistry from the likes of Juice Wrld, Kendrick Lamar, XXX, Chance the Rapper, and Logic. He deftly tries to recreate today’s most popular tracks and adds his own unique spin to them, making it entirely his own.
He is an artist through and through, constantly looking for new ways to improve himself as a musician and grow as an artist. There’s no telling how far Micyde will go, but one thing’s for sure there’s nowhere else he could go but up.
In the future, Micyde hopes to go on tour and perform on big arenas. His dreams aren’t too far-fetched, given the amount of online praise he has gotten over the years, which only seems to be consistently growing as time goes by. Once the dust settles on the global pandemic, Micyde wishes to share his passion for music to the world by doing live shows and performing in front of thousands of people.
