The universal language of love is such a long-enduring muse for artists worldwide. Piercing through the quiet humdrum of modern life, this powerful yet elusive emotion is something that musicians have constantly tried to capture time and time again. Those who have succeeded are few and far between, and the young and talented Irish Indie Folk musician Molly Buchan has definitely shown that she is more than capable of doing so with her latest single, “When I Ache.”
Bringing along her signature vocals and delicate melodies, “When I Ache” features Molly Buchan at her most vulnerable. Beautifully haunting and wildly entrancing, Molly’s latest single evokes a powerful sense of longing with each heartfelt lyric. With her heart on her sleeve, the song wistfully portrays Molly’s emotions as she misses someone she loves.
Enveloped with rich production, lush melodies, and a series of harmonious guitar licks, “When I Ache” is as much of a technical marvel as it is an emotional powerhouse. The song will also have its own music video, prominently featuring mellow visuals that perfectly encapsulate its raw and unfettered emotions. The video is set to be released on February 28th.
Molly Buchan’s latest single is an artistic triumph for the rising Indie Folk star. Known for her songs “Strawberry Perfume” and “Tell Me,” she has grown to become one of the very few musicians out there who can accurately depict the universally familiar, emotional weight of young love.
Filled to the brim with a talent for creative expression, the young artist has found her own sonic solace in exploring the various themes of grief, denial, obsession, and nostalgia in her remarkable writing. Throughout her career, Molly Buchan has mastered the craft of writing songs that are relatable, easy to listen to, and, most of all, universally felt.
Being attuned to her emotions has allowed Molly Buchan to bring out her penchant for music to a global audience. Always passionate about connecting and resonating with her listeners, Molly engages with her fans in social and online spaces with nothing but sheer authenticity. “I’m very lucky to be surrounded by the talented musicians in my collective who have helped me to develop both as a writer and performer and continue to help me discover my sound as an artist,” shared the young artist.
When asked who or what motivated her to build her brand, Molly Buchan mentioned Irish musician Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries as one of her main influences for establishing a career in music. Undoubtedly, Dolores’ influence bleeds through Molly’s songwriting as she admits that “she inspired me to try and merge a ‘Celtic’ feel into bedroom-pop/folk.”
With a distinct and powerful style that keeps growing with each new release, Molly Buchan has shown that she is deeply involved in her own creative process. “I like to create an ethereal effect with intertwining vocal melodies and try to portray this in my imagery and stagecraft. I’m still developing and discovering myself as an artist, but I’m grateful to be in Dublin surrounded by so many young, creative minds that I can gain so much direction from,” explained the emerging artist.
With the upcoming release of the music video for ‘when i ache’, the talented musician is gearing up for the release of her debut EP alongside GANZY, a musical collective featuring several Dublin-based indie artists much like herself. Molly Buchan is currently signed under the LA-based boutique indie label, Pop Cautious Records.
