Stories are powerful; they can change the direction of our lives and the lives of those around us. Noah Amparano has learned this powerful truth in the years that he’s been a lifestyle coach, fitness trainer, and entrepreneur. The stories we tell ourselves can make a huge impact on how we navigate through life, and Noah’s story is one of success in the face of struggle.
Noah Amparano grew up in Napa, California. At six years old, he realized that he wasn’t like his fellow classmates. He seemed to struggle with finishing his homework, and his teachers saw it as his way of acting out. Noah wasn’t making any progress at all, and this heavily frustrated his teachers. His friends were already learning how to read and write, yet he couldn’t make out the letters, and he struggled to learn.
Noah was taken to a center in Houston, Texas, where he went to be assessed. They hooked him up to various machines and put him through a series of tests and brain scans. When they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with Noah, they sat him down in a chair and told him that he was never going to be able to read or write, let alone become a functioning member of society.
He attended eight different schools in Texas, Illinois, Arizona, and California. Accompanied by his mother and brother, Noah Amparano and his family lived in a series of motels. He was put on a series of stimulants in the hope that it would help with his concentration, but none of it seemed to work, and it only made his condition worse.
Doctors prescribed Noah with a variety of medicines such as Depakote, Seroquel, Lithium, Albuterol, and many other heavy-duty drugs. The side effects of the drugs were intense; he had terrible rages in the middle of the night, where he would often see severed limbs coming at him. He would flail his arms, hitting his mom as she tries to wake him up.
The rages alternated with periods of mania and depression. Eventually, Noah Amparano was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and was taken to Stanford University. They took him off of the stimulants and gave him strong anti-depressants in the hope of stabilizing his moods.
In the following years, Noah’s assessments showed that the diagnosis was incorrect. Since then, he has strived to accomplish the things he was told that he could never do from teaching himself how to read and write, educating others about business while simultaneously running his own. Noah wants budding entrepreneurs to know that they can develop tools and strategies to adapt and overcome the odds.
Through the struggles that he faced at such an early age, Noah Amparano fully understands what it takes to overcome obstacles. He knows what it takes to not let the opinions of others affect one’s goals and aspirations. Throughout the years of overcoming severe learning challenges and coaching, Noah has developed a unique skill set that allows him to help people from a space of awareness rather than a set of structures.
Through a unique process of body awareness, energetic exercises, and the ability to ask the hard questions, anyone can overcome their limits. Nowadays, Noah Amparano continues to educate others while running his own business. He also teaches and trains professional athletes and does some traveling on the side. Noah also never forgets to give back to his community. He wanted to give back the tools and insights that he has gathered to children that have struggled just like he did.
Noah’s story is truly inspirational, and he hopes that it will motivate other people to choose a life of purpose and direction. He hopes that he will inspire other people to overcome the odds just like he did.
