While most artists in the music industry strive to rise above others in their chosen genre, JaVon Stukes, aka Rockstar Nova, excels in combining two prominent genres of music he likes to call hiprock. Today, he is capturing music lovers globally with his unique sound and amazes others with his incredible artistry.
Rockstar Nova was born in Virginia, but he was raised in Philadelphia. Ever since childhood, he has been passionate about music. He began writing songs at 17 with the legendary Chris Brown, who was also a native of his hometown Tappahannock, VA. Venturing into the music industry was nothing new to the artist as he has formerly been successful as a rapper. At 22, the artist dropped his first mixtape called Kick In The Door, followed by 20 more tracks, and the rest was history.
Throughout his rap career, formerly known as Novaj Flame, Rockstar Nova collaborated with some of the best artists of today’s generation. He has worked with Project Pat, E. Ness, Chip, Fetty Wap, Chedda Da Connect, and Tory Lanez, to name a few. His journey was going well as he released one track after another. Still, the artist felt that he could do something bigger, something fresh for listeners. “I strive to be different and be in my own lane in a time when everyone is a follower,” shared the artist.
And so, Rockstar Nova discovered his love for rock and pop music, which eventually piqued his interest in merging the two genres into his self-created category called hiprock. Additionally, through his new creation, the artist opens new doors for innovative artists like himself and changes the narrative for urban musicians seeking the spotlight.
Putting his passion into action, Rockstar Nova launched his new track called Toxic Love, under his new name. The song was merely the beginning of his goal to establish hiprock as a new genre. Soon enough, his other tracks, 4 am, Dirty Diana, i95, Animal, and Famous, followed through and struck a chord with music lovers worldwide. The artist also did some remixes of famous songs such as Come Thru and Wake Up Dead.
Following the success of his tracks, Rockstar Nova aims to launch his first project under hiprock called Hard Rock Life in 2021 while simultaneously treating music lovers with unique and captivating singles. “I am actually stepping into a new lane and want to show the youth you don’t have to just rap but you can tap into other genres and make it your own,” shared the artist. “I want to be the first true ‘North Philly rockstar’,” he added.
Even after producing more than a hundred songs in his music career, Rockstar Nova feels that he still has more to offer under the hiprock genre and plans on investing more time and energy into it to give music lovers a new experience. Without a doubt, with his out-of-the-box approach to music, the artist will undoubtedly reshape the industry and pave the way for like-minded artists like himself to pursue their uniqueness.
