Broadcasting from the harbor in Marina Del Rey, California, is a self-described “Crazy Italian” named Paisan Kapitan, who hosts Hye Jams Radio. “Hye,” short for Hyastanci, means “from Armenia,” which is what this exciting radio show delivers by jamming the latest Armenian Pop music, as well as interviews with numerous well known recording artists.
Kapitan set sail on the Armenian themed broadcast from his Sea Ray Sundancer back in August of 2020 as an entertainment alternative for those feeling deprived of fun with the COVID-19 pandemic. Featuring Armenia’s Best Pop Talent, the radio show not only reignites Armenian-Americans with a taste of home, but having an English-speaking Italian host opens up the audience to all cultures.
Although the show is still in radio format and is audio only, Kapitan is primed to launch Hye Jams TV. This platform will allow the viewers to remove their imagination of the wild and fun boat parties and actually join them with full interactive video.
The radio show runtime is an hour of complete entertainment. The music and energy never stops because of Kapitan’s overflowing enthusiasm and love for Armenian music. Well-researched interviews will also feed everyone’s curious minds. The audience is never disappointed with the fun presentation and genuine respect of the Armenian culture, exhibited by this seasoned radio host.
Hye Jams Radio is a perfect platform regardless of what one is doing. Whether they are having barbecues, working out, driving to work or just simply hanging out with friends, every listener will surely love and enjoy the party on the sea.
As Paisan is typically described as lively and wacky, it should be expected that the radio show will have no dull moments with the energy he exudes. A former Top 10 broadcast radio host, Kapitan has topped the ratings in markets like Los Angeles, New Orleans, Santa Barbara, and once National Syndicated.
Paisan did not grow up listening to Armenian songs. Instead, after marrying into an Armenian family, he not only fell in love with his wife, but he couldn’t get enough of the music and the culture of the country. “Armenians and Italians have similar cultures,” he said. “We love to eat. We love to dance. We love our families and we’re all loud!”
Loud is an understatement as every weekend, Paisan sails the harbor while blasting the Armenian Hits at full volume on the speakers.
Asked about where he sees himself in five years, Paisan Kapitan said that he wants the show to be broadcasted around the world. “Being syndicated on Westwood One would be an amazing opportunity,” he said. “Honestly, I enjoy this so much, just being able to do this as a career lifestyle would be a dream come true.”
The show has already taken off hitting an Apple Podcast rank high in the music genre of #46 and being downloaded daily all around the world. Hye Jams Radio is archived, which means that listeners can replay the episodes on any of the numerous streaming platforms like Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Google Podcasts, and Alexa Tune-In. Streams can also be downloaded off of the website HyeJams.com.
