One of the most controversial forms of art has always been nude subjects. Despite being a prominent subject in the visual arts, it has still divided people for its depictions. With the evolution of technology, mature content can be easily accessed by anyone of any age. However, not all forms of nudity are meant to be an erotic exhibition. Dwillmadeit, a photography brand, focuses on subjects that walk both ways.
Dwillmadeit was created by Devin Williams, an individual who had previously worked a regular nine-to-five job before jumping into photography full time. When he was younger, he used to draw a lot. Williams would be hunched over a notebook, using his pencil or pen to bring ideas to life that flooded his head. As he grew older, he started looking for a new creative outlet.
Photography caught his eye as it provided him with the opportunity to showcase scenes and beautiful, subtle, and powerful subjects. He started learning about photography basics, taking in basic information, and taking notes of the technical side to using a camera. He would spend hours watching videos that could teach him how to get the style he wanted.
By 2017, Devin Williams bought his first camera and put his knowledge to practice. He fell in love with the craft in no time and started pondering whether he should go full-time with his passion or not. Making a judgment call on practicality, Williams chose to do photography part-time to continue his work and bring food to the table. Over time, he managed to find his footing and style in photography and ultimately chose to quit his job, which he is proud to have made.
Devin knew how competitive the photography scene was, so he decided to create his brand, Dwillmadeit, and focus on subjects that depicted beauty, confidence, and empowerment. His subjects mainly consist of women who are either half-clothed or fully nude.
While it is already common in the photography scene, William’s composition and direction emphasize their forms and curves. His post-production editing highlights the contour shades of their figures, putting them under an artistic spotlight. Dwillmadeit is also unique for incorporating Devin Williams’ dark and moody style into videography, a feature that not many photography brands have. His works earned him a reputation, and rather than seeking out models for shoots, the models that contact him to have their photos taken.
Before jumping full-time into photography, Devin had always dreamt of traveling, meeting new people, and networking. They were among the driving forces that motivated him to make the leap. Since going full-time, he has experienced the thrill of going to new places, new adventures, and doing new things for the first time. Devin is proud to create amazing art with people who share the same passion.
The success that Dwillmadeit garnered allowed Devin to create another brand called Wet Muse, which takes a different approach to the same style he uses. The brand is water-based photography as it features his models in pools or other water bodies, shining a new light on the moody style he’s incorporated.
As Devin Williams continues to add to his portfolio, he is hopeful of moving into his own space where he can shoot models, work, and invite other fellow creatives to shoot there as well.
