In contemporary times, photography is the art of the present generation. However it is taken, be it through a camera or phone, moving or still, a photograph contains thousands of stories. Through a photo, a story is captured and turned into great art. This goes the same for Jimmy Easton, the CEO, and founder behind Posterchild Media. With a camera, everything turns to art for Jimmy.
At a young age, Jimmy Easton knew exactly what he wanted to become. By the first time he got his own camera, he was so enamored by the beauty of the world that he started capturing one picture at a time, no matter what the subject is. After some time, Jimmy was able to learn the techniques for capturing a great photo. His camera became his artistic tool in expressing himself. This genuine passion inside of him led to the creation of Posterchild Media, a multimedia business that features various arts, be it about photos or music.
Using Posterchild Media as his platform, Jimmy illustrates a visual scene through his camera lens a whole new world of Hip Hop, fashion, LGBTQ+ and ballroom culture, black queer culture, and cosplay, to name a few. One of the bold works of his is photographing the queer black experience. Jimmy knows first hand that there is a lack of perspective and representation when featuring a gay black man. In the hopes of bridging the gap, he turns to his camera to add visibility to People of Color and the LGBTQ+ community. When it comes to photography, his area of interest may be unconventional and sometimes controversial for some, he is unapologetic about it. After all, he is merely imparting an art from the perspective of a Gen Z individual.
Over the years, his artistry in photography has allowed him to work with big names in the industry, namely CNN, American Apparel, Cartier, Ripparachie, Paper Magazine, and so many more. Moreover, he has been published in various publications, including 9712, Act of Fashion, and even Shaderoom.
Aside from his photography prowess, Jimmy Easton is also a multifaceted creative director with an eye for fashion and detail. When he is not doing photography, he is a DJ, creative analyst, and entrepreneur. He has made performances in popular venues across Atlanta, such as the Gallery and The Bakery and Artisans Bar. In his music, he showcases the aesthetic side of black music.
Creativity is definitely embedded in everything that Jimmy does. He shares, “Myself and my brand are authentically me and various outlets of expression to uplift others. It’s always been my goal to help catalyze people’s potential to help them reach their true calling and highest goals. Through expressions of art such as music, photography, styling, etc., I found that people begin to feel more empowered, confident, and free without the weights of competition and comparison.
Currently, Jimmy Easton is walking the path that is set for him. That is to depict art and life through the lenses of his camera. Learn more about him and his brand Posterchild Media by visiting his website and Instagram.
