For diehard comic book fans around the world it’s been seven years since the first announcement was made that a “Black Adam” film would be added to the list of DCEU (Warner Media) films slated to go into production. Not since the release of Zack Snyder’s cut of the Justice League last year has a DCEU film garnered more hype and anticipation. Now with the completion of “Black Adam” starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson being set for its theatrical release on 21 October, fans will finally get a chance to see the anti-hero come to life on the big screen. In addition to Aldis Hodge (Hawkman) and Pierce Brosnan (Dr. Fate) Atlanta-based actor Jermaine Rivers will also be suiting up to join the ensemble cast.
Rivers is no stranger to the superhero genre as he’s most notable for his role as Shatter on Marvel’s “The Gifted”. Last year Rivers appeared in “Spider-Man No Way Home” and became part of the MCU when he doubled as (Jamie Fox’s) Electro. With roles in both the MCU and DCEU under his belt, 2022 is laying the foundation for Rivers to become a house-hold name.
Some might say that Rivers is an overnight success, but his resume and track record for delivering excellent performances says otherwise. For over a decade Rivers has worked in some of the best films, opposite academy award winning actors like Al Pacino, Danny Glover and Richard Dreyfuss. He’s landed recurring roles in some of the hottest shows on network TV like MacGyver, Dynasty and “Power Book III: Raising Kanan”. Rivers summarizes his career trajectory as “The result of a slow but steady grind that took more than a decade of hard work, discipline, self-sacrifice and even rejection to accumulate.”
In addition to appearing in one of the Biggest films of the year, Rivers will be joining the cast of Netflix hit series Sweet Magnolias, as they enter their 3rd season next Spring. On 8 October, Jermaine took to Instagram to share news of his casting in a recurring role as (Charles Perkins) in the series saying, “Feeling extremely Blessed and excited to be joining the amazing cast of Sweet Magnolias in Season 3”. Rivers also secured lead and supporting roles in the following films that will be released next year: A Party to Die For (2023), and Freedom’s Path (2023). Jermaine Rivers is rep’d by Play Management and Eris Talent.
