When the COVID-19 crisis erupted, people rushed to stores and vendors to purchase protective equipment. The high demand and limited supply of health and sanitation-related commodities made it nearly impossible for the masses and front liner institutions to gain access to protective equipment. That’s where entrepreneur and trailblazing innovator Sean Kelly came up with the idea to create an entity that would make access to Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and other protective products easy and fast. And so began Sean’s company, PPE of America.
Sean is best known as the owner and operator of Jersey Champion, an ecommerce business that makes and sells high-quality tailor-made jerseys. His experience in business has given him an edge when it comes to sourcing materials and products and making them available to the market. When the pandemic started, Sean saw an opportunity to pitch in by doing what he does best: distribution.
The demand for PPEs, masks, sanitizers, and other health essentials skyrocketed this year when coronavirus spread worldwide. Consequently, access to these products became much harder to come by. Also, some vendors started to overprice the necessary commodities, which caused the government to step in. “The problem was that legitimate authorized distributors of worldwide brands were being inundated with buyers who needed to be vetted under the strict guidelines that many companies put in place to prevent price gouging,” explains Sean. “These sellers did not have the resources to quickly vet buyers, so that is where my team came into play.”
Working with his existing team over at Jersey Champion, Sean went to work and began sourcing protective products directly from manufacturers and nationwide U.S. distributors. He started PPE of America, a company that connects his network of sellers to people and organizations in need of protective equipment.
The company provides PPEs, masks, gowns, hand sanitizers, and gloves to hospitals, health-care bodies, government agencies, and privately owned businesses who desperately need quick and easy access to the products. PPE of America has, in total, facilitated over $24 million in sales of FDA-approved and NIOSH-approved products in the last five months.
In today’s pandemic, getting access to PPEs can spell the difference between an uncontainable spread and containing wide-scale contamination. For many areas in the United States and the world, it’s a matter of life and death. And for Sean and PPE of America, this reality is more than just a business transaction. It’s a mission to save lives.
With his extensive marketing and business background built from years of successful trading and sourcing, Sean is doing his part to get the word out of his access to protective gear. The business expert uses every tool in his arsenal, including social media, public relations, data acquisition, and exclusive channels to broadcast their offering.
With PPE of America, Sean hopes to do his part in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and helping America and the world win the war against what is probably the most significant crisis this world will face for decades to come. Sean hopes that through his business savviness, he can pitch in and make a difference in the lives of others through his venture.
