Up-and-coming indie rapper PriceTag is the brilliant mind who created hip-hop’s newest subgenre, Southern Fusion rapping. This sound is defined by a mix of slow-to-medium paced flows and rhythms with fast and full-throttle bars and beats. This unique sound can be heard in action in PriceTag’s single, “Living My Life.” The young artist’s debut album “Forever Independent” is set to be released at the end of 2020.
Twenty-eight-year-old PriceTag (Thomas Price II) is an underground Chicano rapper from San Antonio, Texas. He is the up and coming talk of the town in San Antonio’s Latino underground rap scene & is currently trying to make big moves throughout the Texas & California hip hop community. The young artist entered the music scene in late 2018. In 2019, he released eight singles that consistently showed his great musical ability and bold storytelling. PriceTag is known for his in-your-face, no-holds-barred type of music. He presents a hardcore attitude who is not afraid to tell it how it is.
During the day, Thomas Price II is a full-time truck driver. On his time off, he is PriceTag. The young musician has experimented with a wide range of sounds and musical styles. His future music will have waves of genres such as hardcore rap, Chicano rap, Dirty South hip-hop, crunk music, storytelling, Latin rap, and Club/Twerk music. The creative, free-spirited rapper is the mind behind Southern Fusion rapping, which he created from his long exposure to hip-hop subgenres.
PriceTag’s biggest inspirations are Texas artists such as Z-Ro, Lil Keke, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Trae Tha Truth, UGK, South Park Mexican, Guerilla Maab and also 2 Live Crew, Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz, and 2Pac.
PriceTag prides himself on being one of the few indie hip-hop artists who have recorded music all over the country. He has recorded in eight different states and eleven different cities, including Texas, Nevada, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, Iowa, and New York. As a new independent music artist, he faces a wide set of challenges and roadblocks in his mission to make it to the mainstream music industry. Despite this, he already has a global following that makes up his thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify and over 100,000+ streams throughout all streaming services online, mostly from Los Angeles, Houston, Chicago, Washington and Charlotte. He has made his name as one of the fastest-growing artists from San Antonio since he entered the rap scene in late 2018, despite promoting his music mainly online globally and not locally.
The young artist was spotted performing at the Screwfest 2019 in San Antonio, where he opened for Lil Keke, Lil’ Flip, Big Pokey, and E.S.G.
PriceTag is willing to push through whatever kind of hurdle comes his way. As an independent artist, he often has to work harder than his peers to produce the sound that he has in mind and get the recognition he deserves. He is proud of his hustle as an artist and has managed to be bigger than he initially envisioned himself to be.
Fans can expect PriceTag’s full-length debut album, Forever Independent, to be released toward the end of 2020. Meanwhile, all his nine singles are available for free on Spotify.
For PriceTag, this is only the beginning. The young independent rapper dreams of becoming a mainstream music artist and becoming a household name in the future. Find all his music/social media links on his Linktree and on all streaming sites, and stay up-to-date with him on Instagram.
