As if conquering the music industry is not enough for one woman, sensational music artist Queennak also stands out as a visual artist and fashion designer. Having grown up in Sierra Leone on the west coast of Africa’s Atlantic Ocean, she has seen many women miss promising opportunities in life due to their fear of being discriminated against as the lesser sex. Queennak is changing the negative perception of outspoken and confident women from her country by showing them that they can pursue their artistic dreams and be proud of it.
Queennak’s contemporary paintings are a hit among collectors, and she uses the proceeds from her sales to help less fortunate people around the world through her humanitarian organization, Queennak Foundation. Her artworks are a bold expression of her individuality as an artist, musician, and advocate for women empowerment.
“In Africa, women are victims of violence and can’t speak about it because they’re scared about what society will say. I want to be a voice for the voiceless, building a huge fan base and use my platform to help,” reveals Queennak.
Aside from being a well-known music artist and contemporary painter, Queennak is also popularly known as the CEO and founder of Queennak Luxury Brand, which is quite a hit in China. From her dazzling shoe line to her fashion bags, seductive and stunning women’s ensemble that promotes the beautiful fusion of Chinese and African cultures, she is fast becoming one of the world’s up-and-coming fashion designers. Her intellect, enthusiasm, confidence, passion for intercultural initiatives, and positivity in life are all evident in her designs. Every woman who wears a Queennak Luxury Brand item will instantly feel like a queen.
One of Queennak’s passion projects is the Du Yi International Cultural Festival, which is a well-known cultural exchange program that aims to promote the rich culture of Sierra Leone and China. She is also widely known as the First Lady of Blacks in China as she has been very active and generous in helping out black people who get sick, need food, and a place to stay in China. Moreover, she is also a reality TV personality for the show Rolling with the NAKs, which she uses to promote black culture in China.
Born as Neneh Ada Koromo and now using Neneh Ada Yang after marrying her Chinese husband, Queennak is also about to dominate the American music industry as she relocated to the United States to pursue her dream of becoming a famous musical artist. She has released several impressive singles on YouTube that introduced fans to her unique brand of music—a combination of reggae, dancehall, and afro beats. Her single Money Day Ya attracted the biggest number of views at 100k two years ago on YouTube. Presently, she is immersed in writing more songs as she prepares to launch an album very soon.
Aside from her many roles as an artist, entrepreneur, and family woman, Queennak is also recognized as the first foreigner to represent China at the Milan Expo Arts Exhibition 2014. Additionally, she is the first Sierra Leonean to represent her country at the Youth Olympic Games Arts Exhibition in Nanjing last 2013. Now that she is living in America to build her music career and personal brands, she is being identified as the Queen of Sierra Leoneans in New York.
Apart from what she has already accomplished as an artist, fashion designer, and singer, Queennak sees herself bridging different cultures in the future to develop more talents from around the world. By eyeing collaborations with cultural stars from other countries, she intends to become a minister of entertainment to pave the way for younger talents who aspire to share their gifts with the world.
