Sathi Roy is currently the director of refinance sales at Better.com, one of the fastest-growing homeownership companies in America. Sathi is one of the first employees of the company and made significant contributions to shaping it to the multimillion dollar company it is today. She grew the company’s refinance team from 1 to 170 employees and brought over $60 million in revenue.
Better.com boasts its 350% year-over-year growth and the $1 billion funding from its mortgage division dedicated to home loans, all in a month. In 2018 alone, the company has helped over 10,000 families acquire homes without the hassle of finding the right property and unnecessary fees. The company receives support from American Express Ventures, HOOPP, Goldman Sachs, Kleiner Perkins, and Pine Brook.
Sathi has built an incredible portfolio through her experiences in the corporate world over the years. She has worked at Neuroleadership management consulting as a ghostwriter for the CEO. Sathi also worked with the billionaire and real estate mogul Neil Bender as an executive assistant. She has also explored the fashion industry by working for the luxury designer Courtney Russell of the Lion and Lamb Co. Her previous affiliations, on top of her career in finance, broadened her perspective in life.
Sathi got her bachelor’s degree in communication and psychology from Fordham University. She practiced her academic qualifications as a trained coach from the Neuroleadership Institute. Sathi was brought up in a Hindu-Bengali family in New York. Growing up in an environment where not many people look like her, she was motivated to become the voice of the minority. Sathi is an advocate for being bold, courageous, and being true to one’s self.
Today, Sathi is on a journey to pursue a career that would allow her to change other people’s lives. As a self-made woman who has reached so many milestones in life, Sathi wants other South Asian, LGBTQ+, strong women to obtain success in their lives as well. She has the experience and the knowledge to effectively coach people in the areas of leadership, emotional regulation, interpersonal relationships, and personal development.
Sathi believes that most coaches and leadership experts nowadays teach their clients ways on how to avoid triggers or be non PC. As a proponent of encouraging thought, Sathi believes that people should not be afraid of exposing themselves to others. She wants her clients to understand how important psychological safety is. She expressed that a person has to feel safe enough to voice a controversial thought. At the same time, one has to know that hearing other’s ideas is not coming from a bad place.
Sathi is an advocate for a society where there is a continuous exchange of ideologies. “I’d like people to understand you have to be honest, authentic, and allow for an exchange of thoughts and ideas to be successful. We will lose individuality, creativity, and authenticity being too focused around sounding ‘perfect’,” Sathi said.
Amid the current traffic in political ideas, Sathi has authentically found her voice. For years now, she has been serving the purpose of guiding people in achieving a non-coddled attitude and mindset. Now she wants to help others find the same confidence she has found within herself.
