Tiktok is a short-form video streaming and sharing app, widely used by the younger population. It allows its users to post 15-second videos on any subject they desire; some upload dance clips, song clips, random funny skits, and even political opinions to be viewed by its millions of users worldwide. It has a variety of effects and unique features that allow the app to be more interactive between users. Still, the best part is that success on the platform depends only on the ability of the user to create engaging quality content.
When Emilio Bernot first tried his hand in creating a large social media following, it did not go too well. He would do skits and create content to post on Instagram. Still, given that only followers of a particular page can see what it posts, he was able to accumulate only about 250 followers. “I tried to hide them,” he says when talking about the old videos he made. Quite embarrassed of the fact, he had resorted to making “stupid” content, as he put it, of him walking into Popeyes blasting loud music, walking behind a McDonald’s counter to serve himself, and breaking watermelons in Walmart.
On Tiktok, on the other hand, given that even non-followers are able to view any post as long as the content is appealing to the audience, his activity has been a huge hit, and he currently has about 900,000 followers on that platform. Now he looks forward to creating content that people will enjoy and spends hours upon hours thinking up new ideas.
Emilio was enrolled in a photography class at Fusion Academy by his mother, and he fell in love with it during the process. He much enjoyed mastering the skills it took to make a place look entirely different on film. He later got involved in doing photoshoots with the local influencers, and as a photographer, videography was something that he had inadvertently stumbled into. He signed up with well-known hip-hop artist Scotty Mcthottie, thinking that they were going to have a photoshoot. It turns out there had been a miscommunication, and the rapper had wanted him to make a music video instead. He decided to take on the challenge, and it turned out to be the best decision he has made, as it introduced him to the whole new world of videography and led him to find his love in it.
Directing is a new avenue for him to extend his creative energy, and he finds that the fulfillment of realizing his vision of a project is intense. Still, he makes sure that the process is collaborative and considers the input of the artists he works with as they go. Now he is eyeing directing more music videos and small video advertisements in the future. Given his talent and his growth in his craft day by day, more prominent projects are sure to come by.Life can be pretty stressful in general. If you find yourself getting overwhelmed, take a break, and have fun viewing Emilio Bernot’s creative content on Tiktok.
