Meg Harrell went from being a dedicated nurse to a prolific influencer with her blog megforit.com.
There was a time when advertisers would spend big money on Super Bowl commercials and magazine ads. Today, those methods are known as “traditional advertising,” and we are moving forward into a futuristic model of marketing.
When it comes to spending advertising budgets, brands have more options than ever before. We are seeing a shift that has been propelled in 2020 towards companies investing in digital ads and influencer content.
In this shift, big brands are seeing a larger ROI when bloggers and social media influencers are the “billboard.” These influencers are the creative writers, models, photographers, and social media strategists all in one.
We asked digital creator (the modern term for a blogger and influencer) Meg Harrell of @meg.for.it and megforit.com, Why are social media influencers sometimes more effective than traditional advertising?”
Meg explained, “Digital Creators are people with large audiences across multiple platforms that have built a strong relationship with their followers. This relationship comes with trust. The Digital Creator is able to “influence” their followers to purchase a product, service or attend an event. If the creator is authentic and believes in the brand they are representing, they can be the most powerful new form of advertising.”
Meg Harell is a passionate advocate of minimalism, and she shares this passion on her blog megforit.com. On social media, we see her sharing her minimalist lifestyle through her traveling experiences, fashion, home design, and parenting. Through her well-received blog and social media presence, she is teaching mothers how to enjoy the simple joys of life and pursue their dreams. What seems to be an ordinary life for some people who are accustomed to an elaborate lifestyle is something that Meg can turn into an extraordinary experience.
“I have the rare job of being able to stay at home with my children, be creative, inspire good in the world and still provide for my family.” Meg reveals.
Meg Harrell generates income through ads on her website, sponsored content on her social media, selling eBooks she has written, and through affiliate commissions.
Meg Harell is currently running her MEGFORIT brand in Central Florida. She is still a nurse while focusing full time on her blog. Meg is proof that it is possible to leave the bubble of comfort and follow your dreams in a new life – one that is more enjoyable, productive, and meaningful.
In the next few years, Meg Harrell envisions the majority of advertising to go digital and a large percentage of the content to be created by influencers. “I don’t see the world of influencer marketing slowing down. In fact, in the turmoil of 2020, I saw an increase in personal revenue. I also notice millennials and GenZ’s consuming all their media digitally and making purchase decisions based on “user-generated content” from social media platforms. When you google a recipe and the entire 1st page of google results are bloggers, you know the world has changed!”
As she continues to inspire, Meg hopes to be seen as an authentic influencer who brings joy and inspiration to everyone who visits her blog. “The playbook for marketing has been rewritten, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
