Travel Blogger Adam Vaughan Sheds Light on Inclusion and Diversity Through His Visual Journal

Traveling has always served as an avenue where people break free from stress and explore the world. As a matter of fact, going from one place to another invigorates one soul, fueling individuals to rise above adversities and go beyond. However, there is more to traveling than meets the eye. While some treat it as a means to de-stress, others consider traveling as a way to learn about the world. In the case of Adam Vaughan, traveling serves as a means for him to tell stories about different cultures, enabling others to open their eyes to inclusion and diversity. As someone who has been from one place to another in all phases of his life, Adam has been a passion-driven traveler since childhood – he was just unaware back then.

Hailing from the suburbs of Omaha, Nebraska, this wanderer has had his fair share of trips across the United States. When he was 11 years old, he would travel from Iowa to Kansas City, painting the roads with his wide-eyed disposition and curious mind. While these trips might mean little to a few individuals, the travels Adam Vaughan had throughout his childhood were an eye-opening experience for him. Through these journeys, Vaughan found solace in discovering something new, feeding his curiosity with an unlimited amount of knowledge that the world was bound to offer.

Although he had already developed a deep-seated interest in traveling, this grew even further when he joined the US Air Force. Adam Vaughan was deployed shortly after the 9/11 incident and began his journey around the globe. While many might assume that his deployment was composed of a series of life-threatening events, it was not the case for this emerging powerhouse. Vaughan shared, “Throughout all my deployments to the worst areas in the world, I grew an appreciation for those who had far less, those that were affected, and those that had nothing like we had.” Through his exposure that he had not previously entirely understood, he was able to develop a nuanced relationship with the global community. This allowed his empathy to grow. Thus, Vaughan re-focused his objective when traveling, highlighting the significance of telling the stories of different people and communities across the globe.

After retiring from the US Air Force, Adam Vaughan went to work for Meta as a global operations manager. This has further allowed him to travel and experience even more parts of the world. Through his trips and exposure to diverse cultures, he has developed a deep passion for human rights. He believes that essential human rights should be afforded to anyone, regardless of gender, age, and sexuality. “Diversity and inclusion are something I have been involved in within my role at Meta, and I strive to educate people on how we need to do better in the corporate environment with regards to this,” shared Vaughan. Together with his wife, a talented photographer, this power player aims to enrich others about these issues through his travel blogs.

Armed with a vision that knows no bounds, Adam Vaughan seeks to create an online journal for the world to see. He hopes that his visual storytelling will entice others to travel and discover what the world has to offer and invite them to experience cultures in a more personal and meaningful way.
