Achieving global fame in the film industry is no walk in the park, especially for a lone ranger in the vast global film industry. Turkiye filmmaker and producer Tuna Ertürk has been charting a course for himself for the last decade, scoring noteworthy achievements as a filmmaker and building a name for himself.
The producer, whose last and most notable project, “Noah Land,” has garnered public applause and recognition from notable film bodies, remains laser-focused on climbing to the top and becoming a recognized name in Hollywood. Coming from a poor background in Türkiye, yet moving to the United States to pursue studies in filmmaking, Tuna Ertürk has displayed a rare type of commitment to his dreams.
With his experience over the years, he has seen how challenging becoming successful in Hollywood can be, especially for an immigrant like him. “The film industry is the toughest field to survive for an immigrant, especially if it is Hollywood which has all the best in it. As an immigrant filmmaker, I have been here for 11 years, and I’m still aspiring to get to the top, so I believe I have some experience about these things,” Tuna said.
His last project, “Noah Land,” won the Best Actor Award and Best Screenplay Award at the Tribeca film Festival. The film has also featured at other film festivals, winning 15 awards out of 22 nominations. Due to the success of the film, Tuna Erturk was featured in NYTimes’s article “Tribeca Film Festival: 9 Filmmakers Who Should Be on Your Radar.” Despite his challenges and struggles as a filmmaker, Tuna has gotten some attention in the industry, and his name is generating some buzz gradually as one of the producers to watch out for.
Tuna Ertürk believes in “hardworking” and being “passionate” as a key ingredient of success in Hollywood, and he adds that you also need networking to meet the right people to get him his dream projects. “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity” “Everyone is already good at what they do. I am good at what I do but what’s left is for the best of the best to work together and propel themselves further toward success. It has been a challenge getting into circles and networking with the right people, but I’m persistent, and I believe I’m getting closer,” Tuna said.
As a producer who has been in the business for over a decade, Tuna wants every aspiring producer to take the art seriously and have a passion for the cinema. “I believe the film industry is one of the most challenging fields to work in. You have to keep working hard every day, and most of the time, it’s just you working. You are doing a lot of side jobs and gigs, even if they are not even about movies. You just find yourself doing them as a way of waiting for your time to come. And you never know when you are going to make it. So, you have to keep working until that day comes,” he said.
Over the next few years, Tuna Ertürk sees himself becoming a notable name in the film world, giving people someone to look to and inspire them while he continues creating highly entertaining and impactful film projects.
