It is never easy to translate one’s dream into reality. We are often told by our elders the impact of envisioning oneself with a bright future ahead, but they fail to warn us of what lies next. Indeed, carving a success-enabling path that is rooted in one’s dream is difficult, especially when the future is unpredictable and filled with obstacles. However, there are a number of highly accomplished personalities who say that the road to success is challenging but never impossible. So long as one pours their hearts into their crafts, everything is within reach.
Emerging baseball player Ty Collins from Los Angeles, California followed this mindset and maintained it from the beginning of his flourishing career. As a result, he is one of the must-watch forces in the sports industry, demonstrating the powerful role of grit, passion, and determination in one’s pursuit of success.
Ty Collins is a baseball player who is currently making waves in the Florida Complex League. He is known as the right-handed pitcher in the Philadelphia Phillies Organization, who has exhibited exceptional talents since the beginning of his career. Although the milestones that he has achieved already show his incredible prowess in playing baseball, there is more to his success story than meets the eye.
Everyone would have thought that Ty Collins had it easy because of his exceptional affinity for baseball, but the caliber player went through a lot of challenges before securing a coveted spot in Professional baseball. The COVID-19 pandemic just began when Ty was about to reach his peak in baseball during his senior year of high school at St. John Bosco. The several cancellations along to go with no in-person College visits due to the global health crisis led to Ty Collins going into the 2020 draft without playing a full Senior season and not having a College commitment, he was not drafted in 2020 only delaying his dream. While this could shake up numerous aspiring baseball players, he continued to persevere and improve and overcome the adversity. With his incredible talents and grit, Ty managed to get drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 16th round out of Glendale Community College in Los Angeles, California. Today, he is playing in the Minor Leagues in the Florida Complex League as a right-handed Relief pitcher.
“I got drafted without playing a full senior year or a collegiate baseball season in almost 2 years. I only played in the Baseball Resource Group (BRG) showcases during weekends to get exposure,” explained Ty. “Working out constantly everyday with a purpose as well as a vision and never giving up on your dreams really made me a different person,” he added.
When asked what inspired him the most to pursue a seemingly impossible dream, Ty Collins revealed that he wanted to show hopefuls that success is within reach for those who keep their eyes on their goal. It has always been the dream for this talented pitcher to become a renowned baseball player, and he has worked hard to make that goal a reality. “It was difficult, but it was all worth it. I want to be able to influence Youth baseball to chase their dreams and never give up because there are so many life lessons and life skills that you acquire along your journey ,” he said.
With no intentions of slowing down any time soon, it is clear that this is only the beginning of Ty’s journey to success. He aims to continue making a mark throughout the Minor Leagues in the years to come. Above anything else, he wishes to inspire the next generation of hopefuls to dream big and never give up.
