Most artists who decided to pursue a serious music career give up all attachments to their previous employment to focus on creating music that will launch them as serious singers or rappers. In the case of rising hip-hop artist and U.S. Army soldier Groov Marro, however, there is still room for his military career in his life despite his rapidly growing music career.
Assigned to the service of the National Guard for the past six years, Groov Marro still finds a unique kind of fulfillment in serving his country despite the demands of building a hip-hop career. With the proper discipline, a positive attitude, and a commitment to never compromise either of the two in terms of the quality of his work, the up-and-coming artist sure has the potential to reap the benefits of both worlds.
While actively serving in the army, he managed to launch his single titled “Stop Me” last July 27, 2020. In just a span of two weeks, Groov Marro was able to attract two million views in various streaming platforms combined. He has achieved what so many emerging artists are not able to accomplish in two weeks. He is out to prove himself in the music industry, and the talented rapper is exceeding expectations every time he creates a new song.
Inspired by the likes of Joey Badass, Eminem, Anderson Paak, Dizzy Wright, Jay Z, Ludacris, Mac Miller, and Hopsin, Groov Marro’s lyrical talent is simply over the top. He has created a unique brand for himself by staying authentic to his positive personality. This same positivity is easily reflected in his songs, inspiring millions of his fans to not give up on their teams but to instead pursue them with a passion they have never felt before.
“My first interest in music actually came from my older brother. He is featured on a few of my songs and music videos by the name ‘KAF.’ To this day, he is still one of the best freestylers I’ve come across. From there I was inspired to express myself in the same way. I wanted to change the world with my words,” Groov Marro shares.
Groov Marro has had the privilege of being invited to perform in front of several audiences such as S.B. Entertainment, Spill Music Group LLC, Uptown Open Mic, Vibe Star Entertainment, DJ Dior Cartel’s Industry Exposure 2, and Original Block Hustlers. His most remarkable and unforgettable performance, however, was the one that he did alongside Judah Priest, a Wu-Tang Clan affiliate.
At present, Groov Marro is working on developing new songs as he continues to serve in the army for now. In the next few years, he hopes to be doing tours to promote his music alongside new artists who wish to get the exposure that they need to launch their careers. Additionally, he is eyeing the possibility of doing promising collaborations with big names in the industry to inspire others that dreams do come true.
