Changing people’s lives through his song verses in the hip-hop arena is a multi-talented rap artist WAR from Godzwork Entertainment, a label founded by the rap star himself and Jacquelyn Figueroa. The rising musician is finally fulfilling his lifelong dream and ultimate purpose of impacting the world through his music and story. At present, he is one of the most quickly rising stars to look out for as the world waits for his debut single “Fake Luv” to drop in January 2021 alongside his upcoming album, Soon You’ll Understand. But not only does he champion music; he also explores the world of theatrical plays and Broadway with Cuba and Teddy Bear 2.
Joseph Povod, better known on stage as ITZ WAR BABY, is an all-in-one musician, rap artist, songwriter, performer, and playwright under the management of Godzwork Entertainment. Born in Baltimore, Mayland, and raised in New York, WAR knew that his passion for music pumped through his veins even at an early age. While music legends such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, DMX, Meatloaf, and Billie Holiday served as his musical inspiration growing up, the musician points out that life itself inspires his music today.
WAR started exploring his talent and passion for music at the young age of 14 years old. By 23, he was working on his career as a professional musician. From making music covers across all genres to writing personal songs based on his life story, the hip-hop artist has come a long way. Today, he is more than a rap artist and singer. He is also a songwriter, pianist, guitarist, and a solid performer. Admittedly, his journey has been filled with doubt and a lack of support from others. Still, his passion for music remains unstoppable, and his talent in music remains a force to be reckoned with.
“I give people my actual life, my real ups and downs. I shade no part of my life. That is me, the real me, and I relate to people. I give people what they want without asking. I feel people and vibes. I deliver accordingly,” shares the rapper-playwright. Indeed, his incredible ability with lyrics and words keeps him in the spotlight as he seamlessly establishes a deep connection with his listeners through his music.
Through Godzwork Entertainment, WAR wrote Cuba and His Teddy Bear 2, a sequel of the well-known play Cuba and His Teddy Bear, written by his late older brother Reinaldo Povod about the life of their late father, who was recognized as the biggest drug dealer in Baltimore in 1989. The play starred the famous actor Robert De Niro, who played the lead, and the story made significant noise on Broadway, big screens, and even mainstream media. Now, WAR continues the living masterpiece with Cuba and His Teddy Bear 2.
At present, WAR is looking forward to dropping his debut single “Fake Luv,” produced by Lilzhp and Lilz Jr, on November 18. This coming January, he is dropping the album called Soon You’ll Understand, under Godzwork Entertainment. The label is looking to explore more talents and sign artists from all genres.
Beyond music and theater, WAR is also at the forefront in giving back to the youth and the community. With that, WAR established a girls’ youth soccer club franchise called WAR-FC under the Godzwork Entertainment umbrella for the city of Chino in California. The talented rapper also started a foreclosure recovery company Miracle Funds Recovery, to help people in Chino receive the right assistance in foreclosure and recover funds from properties sold.
For WAR, his real-life heroes were his father and older brother, both of whom already walked the earth and left each of their significant marks. Today, WAR knows it is his turn to leave a legacy that would impact many lives. The world is his stage, and it is now his turn to tell his story and spark hope through his music.
