Zenny Kravitz prides himself on many things, such as his unique ability to sing without auto-tune, play different instruments, write songs, produce songs, shoot videos, and even participate in extreme sports. Working hard is not alien to him, and with all these talents, he lives in constant pain that he has managed for almost two decades.
He has struggled with genesis, a condition that makes his knee caps pop out involuntarily, which causes him a lot of pain. He has lived with this condition since he was 7 years old. He has tried to live with this pain for years without allowing that aspect of his life to limit him from attaining his full potential. He lives like every normal young adult at 26, but in actuality, he has to bear a lot of pain to get through each day. He has also reduced his participation in extreme sports like unicycling and skateboarding.
Sometimes, he deals with his mental health when he is on the verge of depression. He keeps to himself and only finds solace in his music, but he is advocating for people to pay attention to these things. In his words, “It’s a big thing and a lot of people are going through it. However, people overlook it because it is hardly noticeable except the person opens up. We often cannot see beyond the surface to see if someone is okay. Thus, we need to encourage people to talk about their issues. I am considering joining a group intervention for men.”
This motivates him to put all his efforts into his music. He has invested heavily in his music just to ensure that he has everything he needs to create music. He avoids spending heavily on his musical projects, which is why he has mastered music production and videography. He makes music under his imprint, Luxury Beats, which is poised to be a new type of sound in the music industry.
Zenny sees himself beyond basic, and that reflects in his sound and lyrical composition. He targets lovers of hip-hop, rock, indie, rock, and alternative music. He is also not only an independent artist; he is an all-rounder. He is a songwriter, producer, editor, instrumentalist, and video director. His motivation to stay dedicated to his craft and brand stems from realizing that he is responsible for his success. “I realized no one is going to believe in you if you don’t fully commit to what you are doing. So I am motivated by the grind to climb up that ladder.”
Zenny Kravitz has featured on Fox News and other news channels for a unicycling ticket. Outside his music, he is focused on living a wholesome life where he can enjoy himself. He is advocating for mental health awareness and believes that no one should have to go through their struggles alone. On mental health, he says, “I don’t see shame in men consoling each other because we are supposed to be seen as strong and tough. But most of us are soft and usually need more support than we let on. We all are struggling, no matter what sex, race, or religion. It’s not the struggle that is hindering in itself. It’s the lack of supportive cohesiveness for our own that is hindering. The struggle is more beautiful when you have someone by your side.”
