“Being a lawyer is not about talking about yourself. It is about speaking for others. It is not about seeking the spotlight, but about giving value and humanity back to those who need it. It is not about putting yourself forward, but about allowing others to be seen. It is about stepping aside so that others can exist.”
This philosophy is far more than a quote for Marie Claret de Fleurieu. It is the foundation of the way she practices law.
In Paris, her phone rings for very different reasons. One day, it may be a young person seeking justice after suffering a violent assault. Another day, it may be a figure from the worlds of business or entertainment looking for guidance in a complex situation. The names may change, the circumstances may vary, but her approach remains the same.
For Marie Claret de Fleurieu, there are no ordinary cases and no extraordinary clients. There are, above all, people facing defining moments in their lives, and a responsibility to stand beside them.
A Doctor of Law with a dual academic background in law and literature, and the author of a book on legal philosophy recognized with two academic awards, she brings to her practice an approach that is at once legal, human, and reflective.
At a time when many professionals choose visibility as a measure of success, she has chosen another path. The courtroom over the spotlight. The strength of preparation over public attention. The trust of her clients over personal promotion.
Then, at some point, the world of law met the world of cinema, and the story moved to Hollywood.
Los Angeles-based producer Fabrice Sopoglian works at the intersection of French and American entertainment, developing projects that bring together talent, financing and creative ambitions from both sides of the Atlantic.
Among these ventures was American Badass: A Michael Madsen Retrospective, a documentary celebrating Michael Madsen’s career and bringing together an extraordinary roster of names, including Quentin Tarantino, John Travolta, Ron Perlman, Charlie Sheen and Daryl Hannah.
On this project, the production brought in Marie Claret de Fleurieu to negotiate the inclusion of an additional actor in a project already well underway. Working with the producers and the parties involved, she secured his participation while protecting his interests throughout the process.
This experience reflects a broader evolution in her practice, built over several years at the intersection of law, media and international projects.
For the past decade, she has advised World Games Events, the international sports-event company behind Paris World Games, an annual youth tournament that has brought together participants from across the globe since 2015. In this role, she has supported its leadership in negotiations with international partners.
Her international work has also included several assignments alongside DI Agency (Agence DI), including negotiations on the 2017 international advertising campaign Extreme Excursion by PNK. Her practice has since continued to expand through cross-border projects connecting law, business and entertainment.
Today, Marie Claret de Fleurieu represents Fabrice Sopoglian and is developing an international practice connecting Paris with Los Angeles and, increasingly, the Middle East, environments where entertainment, business and culture intersect.
Her strength lies in her ability to move between very different environments while keeping the same guiding principle: understanding people before defending their interests.
One day, she may be standing beside a young victim seeking justice.
The next, she may be advising an artist, entrepreneur, or entertainment professional on a project crossing continents.
Different worlds. Different challenges. The same commitment.
With a longstanding interest in languages and cross-cultural environments, Marie Claret de Fleurieu is comfortable operating in international settings. Her practice reflects a broader understanding of a legal profession that increasingly extends beyond the courtroom, connecting with business, creativity, media and cross-border projects.
Hollywood reminds her that every project begins with a vision.
The courtroom reminds her that behind every case there is a human story.
Perhaps that is what makes Marie Claret de Fleurieu unique. She never chased the spotlight. She became the person who helps others step into it.
While so many chase visibility, she has built her reputation by helping others be heard.
