People like Evan The Card Guy, with a genuine interest in the craft, have been able to build a brand from scratch all under two years. Learning magical tricks was accidental for Evan The Card Guy. As a 12-year old, he was grounded from playing video games, and he needed to keep himself busy so he wouldn’t be bored. He stumbled on magic, and he started learning tricks. When he was 13, he joined The Magic Castle in Hollywood, making him the youngest person to join at the time.
Now, with more than 18 million followers across all social media platforms, Evan The Card Guy is building a brand that is fast catching attention and making waves. His magic career kicked off officially in 2019 when he was still a college student while working as a janitor. He began by posting videos on TikTok just for fun, and after five videos, he started getting more engagements. His videos went viral, and his true dreams came to life. He quit his job and college and focused on his newfound fame as a magician and content creator.
One year after he started posting videos on TikTok, he became the most followed magician, which has given him more exposure and recognition in the magic world. Evan The Card Guy targets people who love light-hearted comedy/challenges and magic. He is passionate about entertaining people, and he is one of the first magicians to put social media to full use. Talking about his journey, Evan says, “I got on this journey all by myself with no mentorship or guidance. Not many people were performing magic on social media, which made me a pioneer. A lot of things did not work, and I made a lot of mistakes. However, two years later, and with more than 3,000 unique videos, I am the most followed magician on social media.”
Evan The Card Guy decided to build his brand because he thought magic could make people happy. He enjoyed performing magic, and he thought it would be fun if people could watch. This prompted him to start posting on TikTok, and now he has grown into a full-service magician brand entertaining people worldwide. Evan’s five-year goal is to make videos with some of the most famous people in the world and put them up. “I’m thinking along the lines of David Blaine. I want to be the face of magic and change how magic performances are done,” he says.
As his career progresses, Evan The Card Guy hopes to bring up other up-and-coming magicians and be their source of inspiration. “I want readers to hear my story about following my dreams and get motivated. Because anything is possible if you believe it and work hard for it.” Evan talks all the time about how no one should let doubts creep into their dreams or let other people’s opinions stop them from going all out to achieve their goals. For him, he believes that every statement of doubt should fuel one’s motivation and determination.
