Aura Davis has gone through so much over the years with one goal in mind: to bare her authentic self through her music. Currently in London recording her debut album, Aura has already made a name for herself with her unique rock music and storytelling style, captivating audiences in over 30 gigs in the UK and Switzerland and earning her a massive following on various social media platforms. Her voice, often compared to legends like Stevie Nicks and Alanis Morrisette, is evocative and raspy yet comforting all at the same time.
But Aura‘s path to success took a lot of work. Growing up in a highly success-driven household, she faced immense pressure from a young age to focus on getting good grades and securing a “good” job rather than pursuing her passion for music. Yet, despite these challenges, Aura fearlessly walked towards everything she wanted to achieve, no matter how impossible it may seem.
Her interest in the craft and writing began at the tender age of four, and by six, she had already set her sights on becoming a musician herself. But her parents were worried about her future and wanted her to focus on more “practical” pursuits. This, paired with the constant moving and daily fighting at home due to cultural and perspective differences, led Aura towards a teenage life full of trauma and a series of bad decisions, including moving out of her parents’ house at 15 and ending up sleeping on the couches of men triple her age. Alcohol and drug abuse led her to stop writing and creating, and she even lost many people to drugs along the way.
At the age of 20, she returned to her parents with a newfound determination to reshape her life the way she wanted to. She picked up her guitar and started again, eventually landing a label deal in Switzerland. However, feeling like she was not in the right place, she decided to walk away and pursue her music independently. Despite venturing into the industry on her own, Aura was able to release five singles that were penned and produced with her boyfriend in her own studio at home. These singles have been streamed over 200,000 times to date, showcasing her talents as a musician and her determination to succeed in the industry on her own terms.
With her powerful voice and raw authenticity, Aura is one promising artist who is sure to make waves in the industry.
