Breaking into the global music scene is not an easy pursuit for any emerging music artist. But every now and then, the world is gifted with one exceptional and promising talent who introduces a life-changing single at the perfect time. Babalon’s single “Scream” successfully made itself known not just to Australian music lovers but even to fans in the United Kingdom, a clear sign that the rising star has made a phenomenal breakthrough.
Babalon made her debut in the Music Magazine in 2020 and has since been enjoyed by radio listeners throughout the country. Furthermore, she steadily made her way up with projects that suited her distinct personality and artistry. Apart from being a talented singer, she also has the makings of an award-winning songwriter. Mainly, she creatively combines different elements, including Indie, Electro Pop and Dark-wave Electro Pop.
Born Ali Spartels, Babalon has artistry flowing through her veins, having been born to parents who are well-loved and respected actors in Australia. Both her parents have held lead roles in theater, film, and television. In fact, her mother, Liz Alexander, starred in the popular Netflix series “Click-bate.”
The young artist was inspired by jazz piano at a very young age, and it had a resounding impact on her life that would drive her creativity as she matured. When it comes to songwriting, she draws inspiration from the iconic works of Prince, Sting, and Joni Mitchell. Filmmaker David Lynch also sits as the biggest inspiration behind her visual content.
Babalon’s songwriting journey started quite early in her life. While most young girls her age were preoccupied with dolls and playing dress up, Babalon wrote songs for her father’s albums for Playschool, which ran on ABC, a children’s television series. At that time, she was only five years old. If anything, she has shown great potential early on, a testament to her innate talent and rare gift.
At present, Babalon is working tirelessly to produce the next hit to “Scream.” She established impressive collaborations with Max Vangeli, Stonebridge, and Going Deeper to add a unique twist to the single by incorporating electronic dance music (EDM) vibes into the original track. After its resounding success in the UK, Babalon feels the need to elevate her music and stretch her creativity further. Her current project is expected not only to be a hit on radio airwaves but also among clubs.
Apart from her electrifying song, Babalon has also taken on a unique persona that suits her personal branding. Her Spotify description states, “The mystery of Babalon emerges from the chaos of Her rebellion and the burning desire of Her psyche. She awakes in a nightmarish landscape during an early morning dream, where She slowly discovers this is not Her world. She has become lost in imagination and trapped by Her creation. The lights come up on a theater filled with mirrors, surrounded by trees; where a young girl alone – Babalon – begins a ritual dance. Her manifestation alerts dark forces to Her presence, and Babalon finds herself set upon by demons – jealous of Her origin. Curiosity compels Babalon to invite them to share in Her creation. Out of chance and change, the opportunity for all to emerge emanates from the mirrors, where the musical frequency of each character will combine in one orchestral triumph.”
“Scream” is available on all mainstream streaming platforms.
